It's been a long time.......

Hello everyone!!! I haven't been on in a long time. I am 6 moths post op. I'm 7 lbs to goal. Having the surgery was the best decision I made for myself. For my health. I'm not trying to brag but I feel so good. People can't believe how good I'm looking. They saw me when I was overweight and not healthy at all. My decision to have the surgery was never about getting skinny. It was always about being healthy and saving my life. I no longer have sleep apnea. I quit using my c-pap a couple months after surgery. My blood pressure has greatly improved. I'm down to 1 bp med instead of 3. I'm competing in my first 5k next Saturday. I started the couch to 5k app 8 weeks ago. What an accomplishment!!!! I wouldn't even go for a walk 6 months ago. It was too much of an effort for me. I started coming to this site just shortly before my surgery. I visited it many times after my surgery. It sure helped me get through those early days!!!! Thank you to all who have gone before me. Your words that I read helped me along my journey. I would like to say to those getting ready for surgery. Those that have recently had surgery...........you CAN do this!!!!!! It will be ok. Hang in there. There is something wonderful waiting for you. It IS within your reach. I followed the advice of the seasoned pros on here and their words guided me during some of the dark days, hours, minutes early on in my journey. Thank you! Diane

I am super excited for you!!! So much change in such a short amount of time!!! You are kicking WLS's butt!!!
I know you have a number in your plan that gets you to goal but go as low as you can before you start Maintenance. Does your present weight put you at the bottom of your BMI? Bounce back is REAL! I'm not sure what the "Honeymoon" Period is for your type of surgery but with the RNY I lost for a couple of years. I got pretty low and got a little scared so I started what I thought would be Maintenance (nothing like before WLS) and put on 13 pounds. I'm still in the normal range and I've been holding steady for over 4 years but still regret not hitting the 100 pound loss (only had 3 to go), getting my golden apple for my signature, and maybe..just maybe..being a few pounds lower than I am.

Hi Roz!!! I didn't even think to see what my BMI will be at my goal weight!!! I've had to re-evaluate myself and my eating the ladst couple of weeks. Pizza and chips obviously aren't going to cut it. I'm listening to all of you regarding re-gain. I I'm heading your warnings!!!! I have to stay on program. My co-workers and family are telling me not to lose more weight. They just aren't used to seeing my at this weight. I'm healthy. Not sickly. I don't look sickly either. I have to keep working hard. Thanks for all of your post Roz!!!!! This is real and it's for life! ~Diane
