One Month Post-Op
I'm officially at 4 weeks/1 month post-op. When people would write that the time flies by, I would always think, "yeah right...". When you are pre-op you just look forward to that surgery date so much that it's hard to believe time flies. It does though. I'm a believer!
Stats:
- 10/1-4/13: Supervised Weight Loss Phase + Pre-Op: -60 lbs
- 4/13-5/13: Month 1 Post-Op: -20 lbs
- Total weight loss: -80 lbs
- Current Weight: 204 (I am SOOOOO close to Onederland. This will be the first time I've returned to Onederland in my adult life.)
I'm so very happy with this progress. I had lost a good amount pre-surgery that I just worried that I wouldn't have as good of a loss in month 1. I can't complain. Losing 20 lbs in a month is HUGE for me. Since 10/1 and including my post-op loss, I'm averaging about 2.5 lbs a week. That's the best I've ever been able to lose steadily in my life.
Today is my last official post-op visit with the clinic. I will "graduate" with them today and then just be expected to return at 6 months for additional lab work and check-in. Although I'll miss seeing everyone, I've been going to the clinic weekly since October and I'm ready for that day of the week to be given back to me and my family. I will continue going to their monthly support group meetings though as I really do appreciate and love the added support.
Soft foods? YAY! OMG. LIFE ALTERING. After hating not loving the pureed stages, soft foods was such a joy to start. I've been to restaurants and ate with my family, etc. At restaurants I've just taken a bite or two from my husband's meal and have been totally satisfied. At a Mexican restaurant I ordered a grilled fish taco off their a'la carte menu. I could only eat about 4 small bites of the fish, but it was so moist and easy to eat. I was in love. Plus, off that menu it was only like $1.50, so bonus! I've found all seafood agrees pretty easily with my stomach. I've struggled a bit with chicken, although I believe that's to be expected. I'll try that again in a few weeks.
Eating in itself still seems a *****ore-like to me. I don't despise it as much since moving to the soft foods, but I'm still simply not hungry. It's really something I do just to be sure my body is getting what it needs.
My in-laws visit next weekend. As I mentioned, they haven't seen me since Christmas and I'm down several sizes since then. They don't know I had the procedure, so I'm excited to see their reaction and will obviously share the procedure info after the reveal.
A few NSVs:
- I took a picture with my son on Mother's Day. I typically avoid the camera, but I couldn't wait to take one with him. The best part? He could hug me all the way around and touch. Joy!
- I purged more clothes from my closet. WIN!
- My mom said I looked like a "twig". Now she's my Mom and she will always think I'm beautiful (yay for Moms), but that was her reaction after seeing me the other day. So sweet. I think "twig" is a stretch, but I'll celebrate the compliment nonetheless.
Here's to seeing less of me next week!

JC, Neat story, its always so energizing to hear about someone elses successes! Lol I had to laugh at the big reveal statement. I did that also as I was nervous about telling folks, then at the two mth mark, I let the cat out of the bag. It all went well and Im sure yours will also be great.
Good luck ads you continue on your journey!
Thank you! Yeah I'm excited to see what they say. I hope they DO say something. That would be horrible if they didn't notice. Yikes!!
