predisone
I have just been on 50 mg of prednisone for this unexplained rash/allergic reaction? I am scared ****less as I was on this prior to surgery and gained a lot of my initial weight prior to having my weight get out of control. I have no idea what I could be alergic to. These are not in folds of my skin but in the folds of my elbows, torso, back and legs. Has anyone developed rashes following surgery? I'm wondering if it could be a vitamin deficiency?
Sorry you are going through this.
You may gain a little water weight but should be temporary until you are off the steroids. You can't really eat a lot at this point. But pay careful attention to what you are eating.
I do have idiopathic urticaria and have been on and off steroids, but have had this over 45 years now.
Hope you can figure this out. Good luck!

I had a skin issue on my hands for years before surgery. After years of dermatologist treatments, nothing helped. But WLS make my hand condition disappear. Now I am 4+ yrs out and it is still ok.
Was the prednisone before due to skin issues? What was the cause then? I do think skin rashes is related to some vit/min issue but if you are still having regular labs, you should know if you are deficient in anything. Are you still taking your vits? You are over a year out, yes? If you had RNY, you need to continue them forever. DS is even more critical.

Not sure if you were responding to me or to the original post. My dermatologist never gave it a name. We went through every cortisone and every other cream, seems like none of which was less than $50 a tube and nothing really worked. But WLS cured it.

The doctor thinks it is an alergic reaction. I am not due for my abs until my 2 ear apt which should be in october. prior to srgery I had a lot of alergies seasonal, latex and progesterone and asthma. All have been very good. This rash is throwing me for a loop. Been trying to drink lots. Still wring out 3-4 times a week. I had issues prior to surgery with hives that's when they pinpointed progesterone alergies so no birth control. Thanks for your suggestions maybe I'll get the door o run my labs early and in particular hormone levels since they may have changed now that I've been stable for the months. Still want to loose 20lbs.
