Dreadful pain!

Hi, I am 6 days out from gastric sleeve and gallbladder removal surgery. I cant walk more than 20-30 steps before I succumb to extreme

pain. I am fine when I finally get into a raised lie or lay?-down position. The crazy thing is, this is when I am on oxy or Tylenol 3s.  So I am fully medicated. This limits my walking and all other activities. It is 2 incisions that are the culprits. I am just needing to know  has this happened to any of you wonderful people and should I be concerned.  It feels like open surgery pain( which I have had in the past Re: Hysterectomy) in two areas. Thank you so much for replies!

I think extreme pain is a reason to check in with your surgeon.   Better to be safe than sorry.  Hope you feel better.

I agree! If no change in the next day or so I may do that. Thanks

Yep, if you haven't already, check in with your Dr.  Gas pains can be horrible but you also could have an adhesion forming.  Won't hurt to check in.  Let us know how you are doing.

Pain is subjective and it might be Ok, and you are just about to turn the corner, or something could be wrong.  My norm was I was feeling pretty ok about day six.  If you're still in that much pain, Id check back with your provider!

Good luck and I hope you feel better!

I was still taking painkillers and in fact had to persuade my reluctant dr to refill the prescription--but it turns out I had an infected abscess brewing for the two weeks after surgery that was causing a lot of tenderness :( and ended up back in the hospital for week three.

I was only on Tramadol though, which doesn't do a whole lot for me. Regular extra-strength Tylenol didn't touch it. Please call your doctor and I hope you feel better soon!

I was taking them for a full week, but mostly because I was afraid to stop because of a medicine delay in the hosp when the nurses were late with my dose, that had me vomiting from the pain of the delay.  I asked my doc for a refill at one week and he said no, and didn't give me an option until I saw him again.  So I stopped and it turned out I didn't need them, it was all in my head.  But, That doesn't sound like you...so getting seen should be a priority if at all possible.

Good Luck!!
