Hi everyone

I just got home this afternoon from having my surgery at Toronto Western Hospital they were awesome my question is do I have to wait 30 min between having my Premier protein shack and then my water? I had the gastric bypass and my lapband removed. It has beeb hard to get in protein shake and water today anybody agree that you have to work up to the 2 protein shacks a day plus food

Thanks in advance

Congrats on beginning your journey!  It'll be so much fun as you move down the rd.

But everything ive read is fluid is fluid whether shake or water, so it moves through your pouch rapidly either way.  So waiting won't make a huge difference now.  One thing I got straight from my surgeon & Nut, was immediately post surgery, the single most important thing was to prioritize getting your fluids in.  They gave me both water goals & protein goals, but they said the fluids were more important.

Good Luck!

Thank you so much for getting back to me i am trying to take one day at a time but I was just worried about all the protein and water needs it is so hard to try to get everything in when you do not feel like you can.

Best Regards

In the beginning, yes, fluid is fluid and you just need to get it in and keep trying.  Sounds like you are doing great.  I've been out of town but by today you should be a lot better.  The swelling starts going down and you should be feeling better each day.

This is a bit late on the response. but nausea is pretty common in the beginning as the anesthesia works its way out of your body (and also do to the pain)  but it does get easier soon promise.  That said, my surgeon sent me home with anti nausea meds which were a godsend.  You could also call and ask for a scrip to be sent to your local pharmacy.  Ive heard lots of folks have had success with this as nausea only makes drinking and everything else more difficult.

Good luck1
