Menus and Miles Tuesday April 21st
Hello to all of our Lightweights!!! If you are visiting WELCOME....PLEASE JOIN US and POST!!!!! Besides my tool, I count Posting on the LW board as my #1 reason for being successful on this exciting journey!!!!
WARNING TO SELF AND TO ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN!!! AVOID 'BAD' CARBS AT ALL COSTS!!! THEY ARE ADDICTING!! THEY WILL SLOW DOWN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS DURING THE LOSING STAGE (and you won't even notice)!! THEY WILL MAKE THE SCALE GO UP AFTER THE HONEYMOON PERIOD IS OVER.
Success in Maintenance starts with GOOD CHOICES during the Honeymoon Period.
I feel I need to repeat this: I am a FIRM believer in Whey Protein Drinks!!!!! I have IC (Irritable Bladder Syndrome) and I can only have them occasionally while I'm not having a flare up. It is sooooo much harder to do Maintenance without them!

Hi Roz,
I'm going to go ahead and post now just in case I can't get back on later. We are going back to look at one of the houses at 1pm today and taking 2 of our contractor friends to look at it also. It has been a very stressful last two weeks. We have to go to a board meeting this afternoon.
I do have a dermatology appointment next Tuesday to find out what this is that is causing me to break out and itch.
Hope your DH is doing better!

Good morning!

Lunch: Shish Kabobs with Chicken breast and veggies/grilled and a piece of cheese (30 protein)
Snack: Piece of cheese (5 protein)
Dinner: ?? Something high protein... maybe leftover Kabobs
Vitamins: On Track
Water: On Track
Exercise: T25 and walking (goal is to walk 3 miles a day.... yesterday I actually walked 4!) :)
Yesterday was my first day back to work after my surgery, but I'm doing well. I'm officially 8 days post-op as of today. Still on liquids, of course....
Thursday is my appointment with my surgeon's office and at that point I should graduate to pureed foods. Here's hoping anyway!
Full Liquids (8 days post-op)
Breakfast: Protein HC (25g)
Lunch: Isopure Zero Carb (20g)
Dinner: TBD - but something with protein
Snack: Sugar-Free Popsicle
I'm still on track for my normal 90+ oz of liquid, and now taking all of my medication post-op (besides my birth control - still have a few more days to start that one back).
Question for the vets: My surgeon's office gave me a protein goal based on my height and told me it would be between 45-55 gm daily. As a low-carb girl, I know that's pretty low from where I'd like to be (goal has always been 70-80). Right now it's hard to meet my own goal during the liquid stages. I'm averaging from 290-390 calories a day right now. Is that normal? I don't want it to be too high, but then again I know my body needs the protein for healing.

I don't know what the abosrb totals are for the VS but with the RNY I had to be at 60 grams of Protein early out but as the time went on I averaged way over 100. The calorie totals sound "normal" to me! I was under 500 for quite awhile and then my next long stage was 600-800. As long as your body is happy go slow.
Some people complain about puree food but I pureed practically everything. It has the same taste just a different texture.

I know you are sleeve and I am RNY but I really think that whole protein by height is the craziest thing I have ever heard of. I think I have said that before. I think 80 is a minimum with any surgery (my Dr group treated us all the same with diet phases and numbers). Protein is what makes muscles and if you are low, you will be losing muscle as well as fat. I know, even with high protein, I lost muscle. Muscle also burns calories so even if you aren't into being strong, you need to keep burning calories because the smaller we get, the less we need.
We never counted calories. Fluid and Protein was all my group was interested in. Then if you followed the rest of their program, you were going to be ok in the other numbers.
Your doing great. Just keep working on the protein.

Thank you!! I've always worked in getting 75-80 gm protein when doing low carb. I know the range they gave me is too low for me. They told me not to count calories come to think of it. It is a habit that I want to keep up...but probably shouldn't pay much attention to right now.
