Pre-Workout Supplements
Hey guys, so I'm a mere 2.5lbs from wonderland. Whenever I kick up my workouts I gain and stall. I don't usually increase calories because I simply can't fit anymore in at 12 weeks.
So my question is: Do you supplement some kind of pre-workout shake or something before intense physical exertion? Today I'm going to spin class where I most likely will burn about 600 calories in an hour, I only intake per day 600-800 at 11 weeks. I wonder if I stall and gain because I'm not giving my body enough calories. Anyway, I just wanted to know if you guys have any suggestions of what I can do before a workout to keep my body balanced and on the losers bench.
Thanks!
You are more than likely stalling because stalling is just a part of the process (unfortunately.... I stall a LOT). :( Your body is adjusting and shifting things around. You may be retaining water because of the new workout plan as well. Just keep doing it and the scale will start going down again. :)
I don't add any additional calories or protein supplements due to working out. I just started another workout-plan (in addition to my 3 mile walk that I try and do daily) and it was just the kick start my body was looking for. I've dropped 1.8 lbs since Sunday (last month I lost 4 for the entire month).
Proud of you for doing a spin class! That's awesome! :)
I still do a late afternoon snack and a mid afternoon protein drink. My muscle pump class is 5:15 so I try to time my drink to be right before that. Then I may have a handful of pistashios while I am cooking supper. Really if you are still eating 5-6 x a day, you shouldn't need anything because of the workout. If you think the workout is making you stall, it may be that your muscles are retaining fluid and it is water weight. I wouldn't worry about it and keep on keeping on. I tried to not eat more because I was working out, just maybe change the times.

I supplement an endurox pill from the Vitamin Shoppe -(alsoGNC) .It (herbal, safely, gently) enables increased oxygen uptake resulting in a longer harder more pleasant workout session for me anyway. I also pre-loadwith lots of caffeine ( chai tea latte anyone ?) which disproven t increase fat-burning, always take a multi-vitamin in the morning and use plenty of sunscreen.
For me the most important factors are good music, high quality workout equipment and nice workout clothes . Dark chocolate ( whose eaters are 7 lbs lighter than their non-dark eating counterparts ) who knew ? can also help jump start a workout in an emergency - but id wait to eat it till I was actually running or rollerblading ...
I don't actually count calories, I really only track my protein & Carbs. My goal is to have over 80 G Protein & under 20 Carbs. That said, your calorie counts sound really low. Are you getting enough protein in? That can definitely stall you.
I do know most folks who do discuss calories do say never add more calories to compensate for your workouts. That was in an article posted by the forum last week.
Good luck on your journey! And great job working out so committedly (it one of the things I keep saying Im going to do more of...does chasing a 4 yr old count?)
Keep trying and try some different ones. I can't do the premixed ones, yuck. I really like syntrax plus it ups my fluid intake. You can order samples pretty reasonably to see if you like them. Go to their website.
