When people talk about the number of ounces they eat, do they mean dry or wet ounces?

Sorry if this is a dumb question....  :)

Do you mean as in a wet or dry measuring cup?  When I talk about 3 ounces say of meat, I mean the weight on a food scale.  Anything else I measure I use in cups, like a half cup of veggies.

Our Dr group told us to measure everything in cups, that your tummy had volume, not a scale.  So 4 ounces was 1/2 c.  That gets harder once you get into dense protein like meat but in the beginning, we measured everything in 1/4c to 1/2c.

I measure meat on my digital scale and cooked veggies, salad, fruit, etc. in a cup.
