I'm a morning coffee person and was gearing myself up to give it up after surgery but I see several people have protein coffee in the morning. How do you make it? Did anyone give up coffee for awhile after surgery? I would love to get my protein & coffee at the same time.

Carpe Diem!

Before surgery I didn't care much for coffee, but now I really enjoy it.  I drink a 12 oz. cup every morning so I'm not drinking all day.

I didn't drink it for a few months after surgery.  I wasn't supposed to have caffeine.  There is a secret to mixing the protein coffee.  Adding protein powder to hot liquid makes it lumpy and it won't smooth out.  Mix a scoop of protein powder in a little lukewarm or cool liquid like water, sugar free creamer, almond milk, et****il it is a smooth paste.  Then add your hot coffee.  I rarely have protein coffee now after 6 1/1 years, but I did really enjoy it in the beginning.  It is an easy way to get in some protein.

I was a coffee addict (think 6+ a day). after surgery on 3/12/15 I can't stand the smell of it. :( I actually cried when I tried to brew a decaf cup and it drove me out of my own home. I did buy this before surgery and loved it http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00B7YK0P8/ref=sr_ph?ie=UTF8&qid=1427148607&sr=1&keywords=coffee+protein

In the early months I couldn't stand real coffee but I loved Syntrax Cappuccino protein shake heated. I would mix a shake and nuke it for a minute and few seconds so the protein wouldn't clump.

Here are my Protein Coffee directions and recipe.

brew a pot of your favorite reduced caffeine coffee - we like chocolate raspberry (you can also brew chai tea and use in place of coffee)

In a 20 oz blender bottle with wire ball, add 3 oz of milk or 1/2 & 1/2, 3 oz of cool water, a packet of Truvia or Splenda, a couple of dashes of cinnamon, and a heaping scoop of Syntrax Nectar vanilla protein powder.
Shake about 5 seconds to blend
Pour the protein slurry into a huge mug and fill to the top with hot coffee
Sir to blend and enjoy!

Always add hot liquid to cold protein slurry to keep the protein from clumping.

Always check the ingredients of a protein powder before you buy it to ensure the first ingredient listed is whey protein isolate. Don't trust the splashy label on the front.

I will try this tomorrow.  I usually add enough creamer to make a paste.  Syntrax is my favorite protein powder after Click.  I wish Click had more protein and less carbs but maybe that's why it tastes so good.

This all sounds so good! I was a huge coffee drinker before surgery but it just doesn't taste the same anymore. I miss it!
