Surgery Approved by Insurance, but....
Now it goes to the doctor for review and to be signed off on again, then to another lady to schedule the surgery and start me on my liquid diet, then to another lady to re-verify my benefits, up date the insurance with surgical date and payment due.
I don't think I will ever get there. I didn't know I had to go through three more people once I got insurance approval. Just give me a date already!!
wow! Once I got my approval. We moved quick. Set my date, scheduled my edg and consent signing. Done my nut class on line and started my 2 week pre-op diet. Had my pre-surgery physical done by my PCP, labs and ekg done. It all took a total of 3 weeks.
Every Dr is different but I had 6 months of classes even though my insurance didn't require it before they would even apply for approval, then after approval, 4 weeks of preop diet before surgery. I know it seems like forever but it will happen.
4 yrs ago when I was going through it all, 6-7 months was pretty normal even if you were self pay.
But then you have the rest of your life. You can hang in there. While you are waiting, read, decarb, decaf and learn to not drink with meals. You will be very ready!!!

I know how you feel. Call the office every couple of days. I told the patient coordinator who schedules surgery that I needed to give my work as much notice as possible because someone was going out on maternity leave and another is retiring at the end of April. If I couldn't have surgery before April 20th I would have to wait until August. I called her yesterday and she said let's just schedule it now so you can make arrangements at work. I'm scheduled for April 13th. It will happen for you too.
Carpe Diem!
