Hello to all of our Lightweights!!!  If you are visiting WELCOME....PLEASE JOIN US and POST!!!!!   Besides my tool,  I count  Posting on the LW board as my #1 reason for being successful on this exciting journey!!!!

WARNING TO SELF AND TO ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN!!!   AVOID 'BAD' CARBS AT ALL COSTS!!!  THEY ARE ADDICTING!!  THEY WILL SLOW DOWN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS DURING THE LOSING STAGE (and you won't even notice)!!  THEY WILL MAKE THE SCALE GO UP AFTER THE HONEYMOON PERIOD IS OVER.

Success in Maintenance starts with GOOD  CHOICES  during the Honeymoon Period.

I feel I need to repeat this:  I am a FIRM believer in Whey Protein Drinks!!!!!  I have IC (Irritable Bladder Syndrome) and I can only have them occasionally while I'm having a flare up.   It is sooooo much harder to do Maintenance without them!

Good Morning LW's!!!!  Its Friday and the  First Day of Spring....YEAH!!!!!  We had fresh snow this morning but it's melted now and the sun is shining through the blinds in my office.

I've been slowly adding some of my Protein drinks back in to see how my bladder does but I ran out of my favorite Matrix Mint Cookie. I ordered a 5 lb. bag yesterday...can't wait!!   If it gets inflamed then I'll take another break. I just can't seem to stay at my "perfect" number on the scale without them.

I took yesterday off and did I ever enjoy my morning.  The afternoon wasn't so enjoyable.  I went to a funeral for one of our church members.  He was loved by all and his wife is the nicest person.  He was 81 and they had been married 57 years, just a lovely couple.  I know 81 is elderly, but he was a young 81 until cancer took hold.  I ended the day attending my quilt group and that is always enjoyable.  So many beautiful quilts shown during show & tell.  I showed my little patriotic quilt I'm donating to a charity for their fundraiser.  I never feel my quilts are up to the quality of the others, but I'm my worst critic.

Roz, I'm curious about the 3 Tb. of popcorn.  Do you pop in an air popper or in the microwave in a brown bag?

First off the only thing I'm going to brag about is living in California and 80* weather in March! After that, I never thought of myself as a lightweight. I had to search to find out what it meant. I thought it was because you were all short not that I'm gigantor at 5'5" but I always feel like the super tall girl. I signed up in March of last year and on my very first post someone was less than understanding, compassionate or polite. I didn't post again until a couple of weeks ago. I was dealing with my insurance company giving me the runaround for the past 10 months but finally got approved. I wish I had posted during that time but that one comment put me off and I almost deleted my profile. I am so glad I didn't.

This time around everyone has been supportive and encouraging, both on the General Discussion and RNY boards, which has helped ease the hurt from that one response. I read the Lightweight Creed and it is exactly how I feel about myself and how I want to support others and how I would like to be supported. I also like the Menus and Miles posts because I know from the numerous successes and failures on Weigh****chers I am much more successful tracking what I eat and being accountable for what I eat. Not to mention getting some ideas of what I'll be able to eat when the time comes. I'm 3 weeks from surgery but I know when I get to transition into eating food Menus & Miles will be a big help keeping me on track.

The other thing that has helped me in the past couple of weeks is seeing that Roz is in her 60s and had successful WLS. I'm soon to be 53 and a small part of me is skeptical that I'll be successful this time when I haven't been in the past. Menopause is a weight loss killer! But then I saw Roz' success and she was 10 years older than I am now when she had her surgery so I feel like I can do it too. I've chosen to ignore those who are not supportive and understanding and focus on accepting help and encouragement when given and trying to encourage others who are their journey.

Thanks for letting me take up your time.

Carpe Diem!
