Seven Weeks Out!
On the whole I feel good! I do get grumpy and tired after work I really hope this is just related to the low carbs and hormones! I weighed myself today (had my husband drag it out from wherever he has it hidden on me) and was pleased to see that the scale is moving, however, I felt that it wasn't moving enough! I calculated my losses over the seven weeks since my surgery (16 lbs) which works out to 2.3 lbs a week - which is better than I've ever done and it's been consistent. If I calculate from the start of my pre-op diet I'm down 29 lbs which works out to 3.2 lbs a week. I'm losing inches and my husband who sees me every day can see my loss and keeps calling me skinny. So after doing all the calculations (I guess I'm a bit of a math nerd) I'm trying to remind myself that this is GREAT! Sometimes I wonder what is wrong with me that I always think I should be doing "better" - I guess it's the Achiever part of my personality (any Strengths Finder fans out there?!). I see others with huge losses each month and think that should be me...I should be doing more...I should be eating less. Sorry this is rambling! Today's goals: Appreciate where you're at! Drink your water!
I hear what you are saying.....I had surgery around the same time as a friend of mine and she is leaving me in the dust with her weightloss....I keep reminding myself : 1- this is MY journey, 2- Lightweights loose slower and 3-this is long term, not a sprint.....
You are doing great, I am doing great, as long as we keep at it !!!!
Youre really doing ok, I know it seems slow sometimes but keep it up.
Because of your math I did my own, lol I was so excited at the 23 lb loss since surgery (I didn't lose a lb presurg so you had me beat huge there), but for me it really works out to 4.5 lbs a week. But I remember my many diets and they usually said you'll lose about 1 lbd a week, so we are doing great.
I think you should count the preop weight loss also, because I think your body is used to weighing a defined amt, and once you start to lose, it goes into a lower calorie mode trying to "save" its energy. Count those lbs in your weight loss!
Lastly think big picture, maybe you'll lose another 10-15 lbs next mth, and again maybe the mth after. Imagine six mths out!!!
Oh yeah and I meant to say, the more we have to lose, I would guess it would come off a little quicker, so as a math whiz try to compare %'s and that may even up you numbers.
We've got this!!! Good Luck!!
Thanks Navychic, you're right! My clothes are already too big and I'm actually losing!!! Consistently! A year ago I was counting every W.W. point and exercising diligently (and hard) and then crying after the weigh-in because I didn't lose anything or had a small gain or .2 of a lb loss. I'm going to focus on how great this is! This isn't an overnight miracle this is real life! Thanks for your support! BTW, Congratulations on your 23lb loss that's AWESOME!!!
I know I obsessed over the weight loss too - I weighed EVERY day...
Now - since you are a math nerd - don't look at total pounds lost but total PERCENTAGE lost.
you started at 210 pre op and am now 181. That is 13.9% of body weight lost.
Good job on doing your measurements - that is what will keep you sane!
