EGD went well
Had my first consult with surgeon yesterday and my EGD. Even though I have some reflux, my surgeon didn't see anything on the EGD that would preclude me from getting the VSG. He did say no more coffee (even decaf) - that surprised me.
I also got my "you're not that big" comment from my EGD nurse when she was going over why I was having the EG (WLS). She gave me a strange look and said have you read about all the risks? Lol! I've been researching this forever!
Not sure what other testing I might need. The surgeon did mention a sleep study which I don't feel is necessary as I don't have any of the warning signs for it - but I will whatever.
Lost another pound so I am now 3 lbs. below a 40 BMI. Insurance should have been called with a qualifying weight though.

If they want a sleep study, they may be trying to get you 3 co-morbidities. They are a pain but if you need it for surgery, yeah, go on and get it.
You will probably get that "your not big enough" more and more. My comeback was "It is a decision I have made with my Dr" which usually shuts them up.
Do your research on VSG and RNY and reflux. And any other co-morbidities you may have. You want to make the best decision for you.
Good luck as you progress. Let us know when you have a date.

I go on Monday 3/23 for my EDG and will have my consent signing before I have the EDG done. I was able to do my nutrition class online Friday and start my pre-op 2 week diet on Tuesday 2/24 for my surgery 3/10. After Monday the only thing I have left is my family doctor on 2/27 for my pre-op exam, labs and ekg. I am so excited to get this going. I show up at the hospital on 3/10 at 9:45 for my surgery at 11:45 I can't wait.
