Valentine dinners?

We don't go out because the resturants are usually so crowded. DS will be home for the weekend so it will be 3 of us.  Who is making a special dinner and what are you doing?  I have a turkey breast in the freezer I may get out.  I've got several SF deserts I make but haven't decided on any.  Plus, although SF they certainly aren't calorie free.

Any ideas are welcome!!!

I find that the more I stress over what I am going to serve, the more problems I have. Case in point-I invited a couple over for dinner Last Saturday night. We had planned to go out, but I decided it was too cold and it would be easier to cook something. Big mistake! With the anxiety over what to serve, how much to make, various before dinner "snacks", and dessert, I ended up eating too much, too fast, too many calories, carbs, etc. and felt horrible after. I even got up in the middle of the night and ate two more of the cookies that my guests brought with them! Next time I will stick with the original plan of going out to a restaurant and ordering protein and a vegetable.

My plan for Friday is to not make anything fancy because my husband could care less. Just a "normal" dinner without dessert!

Have fun and enjoy your night!

No plans.  Not sure what my daughter has planned.  Heck - planning through tomorrow is a big deal for me!  ;)

I don't plan desserts - so I'm no help there!

I wouldn't plan desert if it was up to me but DH is such a desert person.  His mother planned dinner around desert.  I so rarely do any, I thought it would be special.  After 42 years together, finding something different is hard.

42 years is a long time and you should be proud of that.....assuming you're still happy.  I think I want to go out then when we do, I eat too much and bring home half my meal.  I don't care much for leftovers.  Many times food reheated in the microwave isn't edible for me.  I reheat my steak in the oven.  I order fish if it's available and I can eat all of it.  Steak tastes great, but I don't digest it very well.

How about grilling chicken or steaks at home.  You could fix baked potatoes for those that want them and make  a salad.  I make sugar free cheesecake and no body knows it's SF.  BariatricFoodie and The World According to Eggface have some great dessert recipes.

thanks.  I forget about cheesecake.  That may do the trick.  I ended up getting out the turkey breast.  It will last me for many meals and then I can make soup.

I'm not good at cooking.  Linda E. is the one you should ask.

I doubt we will be going out. I'm with you it's way to crowded!  I do expect flowers though!!!!!   This year I'm going to tell him exactly what kind I want because I hate being disappointed and he did a HORRIBLE job last year...lol.    He (me) always buy the DD's and grandkids something too but some of them are going to be in GA for a competition so I think I'll go on Sunday and buy them something 1/2 price.
