3 month surgiversary :)

Good morning!  Today is my 3 month surgiversary!!  I have lost 40 lbs since I started my pre-op diet on 10/27.  I'm not going to lie... Initially I truly thought I would be down more by this point.  I had in my head I would stick to the plan to a T and I could drop 20 lbs a month.

The first month I lost 15... I was happy with that, but still felt it should be more.  But I recalculated in my head and thought well if I lose 15 lbs a month, I can reach my goal weight by...

The second month I lost 6 lbs and I was so upset.  I thought this is not going to work for me... I am always going to be overweight. :(  Then I slapped myself out of it and said to stick to the plan and it will work.  Who cares if it takes a little longer than you had planned??  The point is the scale is consistently going down and I will be able to keep it off.  The middle of my second month is when I really found my groove. :)

The third month I am down 10 more lbs!!  I am feeling so much better about where I am at and where I will be.  I have never in my adult life been under 200 lbs.  In high school I was a size 18.  I am wearing a 16 right now and I stand in front of the mirror in disbelief.  I am down a total of 40 lbs and have 50 lbs to go until I reach my goal.  50 lbs seems really attainable! :)

Congratulations Elizabeth! Everyone's journey is different, but it is a journey. Every day we move a little forward, a little back, but we learn from our mistakes and our victories. Best wishes as you continue toward a healthier life!

It is a journey.  I remember weighing every day and being so excited when my clothes were too big.  It took me a year to lose 70 lbs.  I don't know what I weighed in high school but I wore size 18 too.  My weight problems started around 5th grade.  People would comment to my mother that I was chunky.  :(  Did they not think I knew they meant I was fat!!  I was an expert at avoiding mirrors.  Now I will stand in front of a full length mirror to check how I look.

I picked up some bad eating habits over the last year or so and now I need to take some regain plus the 20 additional lbs. I intended to take off initially.

You are doing well.   Just remember to keep focusing on the right foods to eat so you can maintain your loss once you get to goal.

Thank you! :)  Yes, I was also "chunky" in elementary school... but I have such a cute/pretty face (that is what I was always told).  I am just starting to enjoy what I see in the mirror.

I am 100% focused on eating the right foods and trying to learn to trust the process and take it one day at a time. :)

Great attitude!!!  It is a life long journey!! At this point, you just keep on keeping on and you will get there.  I don't know if the tracker is still on this site but you used to be able to put in your starting weight and it would estimate how much you would lose each month.  I loved it because even when I thought I was losing really slow, I was always ahead of where it thought I would be.  Poke around and see if you can find it.  Yeah, we just aren't going to lose like our heavier friends.  Remember % of excess weight, not pounds.

Thank you!  I also use an app called trend weight.  You are supposed to track your weight every day and based off your history it projects when you should reach goal.  It's a pretty neat app. :)  Sometimes it makes me happy, but when I stall for 2-3 weeks not so much. LOL

Great Job on your success!

So can't wait to follow in your footsteps.  I definitely relate to all of the chunky kid remarks or heavyset used as the norm in a description. To be normal or even "thin" is an unheard of in my life, but I have high hopes!!!
