Getting back on track
2014 I celebrated my Three year anniversary from my RNY surgery. During 2014 I began having many menopausal/ hormone issues. So my Gyn put me back on hormones, which only made it worse. So I went off the hormones. By the end of 2014 I had put on 20 pounds and I want to get it off. It has been so long that I have been on my maintenance program. I am looking for any advice to keep me motivated and any tips to help me through this.
there are a bunch of us learning maintenance and how to get back to where we want to be. Luckily, I was done with menopause way before surgery so I didn't have to deal with that. I am up from my low of 111 to 133. 111 was too low but I would love to be around 125 again.
Join us on Miles and Menus every day. Post what you are eating and get some suggestions. Many of us find that we pretty much have to stay low carb to keep the weight off. Also, weekly weight in on Sunday. Both are excellent to keep you accountable. This is the hard part, losing was easy!!!

Hi Deanna - and welcome! I'm right with you here. I've thought about getting on hormones to lessen the "menopausal symptoms" but if it leads to weight gain (which I've had enough of as it is) I may just pass.
I need to lose 15 lbs for my son's wedding in May - his fiance's shower is in March - and I'd REALLY like to have (most) it off by then.
Low carb (less than 30 a day), lots of water, back to protein shakes. I know how to do it - I just can't get myself motivated to do it!!
But yes, posting on Roz' Menus and Miles helps - it also helps to see what others' are eating. I do a lot of low-carb recipes - keeps me focused - and planning ahead is BIG. I'm single so when I cook, I make a typical recipe and all the portions that go along with it. I pack them up in individual containers, some in the freezer and they are 'grab and go'. I think that's a HUGE thing in being successful is planning... that way you're not tempted to just grab something off the plan if you don't have anything else available.
