Next month on 01/19, I get sleeved! :) I'm 5'1" about 210, 27 years old. I've been severely overweight for the last 7 years. Prior to that I was always a size 4/6, even though I was convinced I was heavy (I was the "biggest" in a slim family).

I've lost weight before, only to have it come back. Never quite got back to "goal" (130-140lbs, I like to be curvy), but got close once getting down to about 160. At that time I don't recall loose skin, just that my breasts were smaller and the stretch marks were deeper and more noticeable.

But, this is a new high weight for me, so I'm not sure how my skin will fair now that I'm a couple years older and about 20 lbs heavier from my previous high.

I've never had children, but I'd like to when I get to my healthy weight. I'm just hoping I'll have some time to really savor having a "normal" body again between reaching goal after vsg and getting pregnant in a few years, without much loose skin.

I know skin issues are a fear for a lot of us, so I wanted to start this thread where we could post link and pictures to people who haven't had loose skin, for some SKINsperation, positive thinking, tips, or at the very least- wishful thinking haha!

And of course post your own success too! For me, skin success personally wouldn't mean no loose skin at all, but not enough to where it detracts from the joy of the new me (or you! :).

Slimmfast on Youtube firmed up amazing, although she always had a pretty flat tummy even at high weight:

and I saw this article on the Daily Mail this AM, she bounced back beautifully too: Daily Mail Leed's Woman Weight Loss

Please share any others you've found :)

Congrats on your WLS!!!  I envy you having WLS in your 20's!!!

At your young age you are probably starting out a lot firmer than some of us did. At 27 I doubt if you have as much loose skin as I did having surgery in my 50's. When I had surgery I was already pretty saggy.

Good Luck with your surgery!!

Roz

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!

I think it has a lot to do with how much and long you were overweight.  Like Roz I had my surgery later in life and was obese for a long time - giving my skin a lot of time to stretch.  Getting older you just don't have the skin elasticity that younger folks (like you) have.  You may be pleasantly surprised with your end result.

When I was 35 I lost from 210 to 150 and didn't have any loose skin.  At that time I bounced weight up and down... After WLS I got down to 12e, now around 140 (I guess I can be called curvy now).  I did have PS so that took care of  my tummy.  My legs have filled back out (ugh) and that was the other place I had loose skin so it is what it is....

Congrats on your upcoming surgery!  We love to follow the progress of new folks - and please don't hesitate to ask questions!

I am close to your height and starting weight.  When I lost weight in the early 90's (I am 65), I got to about where I am now and had no loose skin.  I had 2 children and had lost 80lbs.  this time, I was 61, lost over 100lbs and do have loose skin.  There are lots of factors that play into the whole skin issue.  Total weight lost, age, muscles, genetics.  Most important to me is that I am healthy and look pretty darn good in clothes.  DH and I have been married for 42 yrs and he thinks I am pretty hot these days, lol.

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery.  I lost a good bit of weight when I was younger and did not have any skin issues.  I was a lot older(55) and larger when I had WLS so I do have some skin issues now.  But even if I had more skin issues I would take what I look like now over being obese again.  My body looks good in clothes.

I bet you will do good at your age.

Thanks Linda! Here's hoping! :) I'll be moving abroad in a year so I'm hoping to be able to save up for that, instead of having to spend on plastics.

I was close to your age and a real lightweight (never much over 200- barely met the minimum Bmi w co morbidities) . My skin bounced back beautifully . Some of my fat cells have filled out in the last five years so I'm thinking about scheduling long overdue plastic surgery now . My skin tone though ... Is firm and witrout celluliite even now in the  tanless depths of winte. I'm proud of my body by the pool when I swim laps ( I like to swim a mile w my underwater I pod and stay-cozy-warm wetsuit )Male gym goers bother me frequently and my (younger hottie 😊) boyfriend spies from outside , so I doubt I look that bad lol
