You know you are going to get that kind of thing a lot. I don't think the process is a bit harder for them than it is for us. It does take them longer because they have more to lose, duh. But hurray for us for doing something about our weight before we got to that point. And we, because we are smaller, have to keep our calories way less than they do to lose weight. They lose tons while we worry about every pound.
Those kind of remarks are exactly why this group is here. I know most of them don't mean to be mean but their words hurt anyway.
Stick around here. We understand.

(((HUGS))) - yes there will be those folks out there who don't have filters on their mouths and feel they can say whatever they want regardless of how it makes the person feel they are directing it to.
Like Price said - that's why we are here. Your response was spot on.
I had some hurtful things said to me just before and after surgery. Keep your head up and show them what successful looks like!!

It's so sad to think that someone could be so blunt and hurtful. This is one of the main reasons I quit reading the RNY board. As a LW I am very proud of myself getting to Maintenance and keeping it off. I do give those with so much weight to lose a lot of credit. I think it would be a long struggle with 100's of pounds to loose.
People don't just feel this way about WLS. When I went to WW I had about the same amount to loose and it took me far less time than it did most of the others. After I got all of my weight off and was on Maintenance I was treated rather rudely by the new and long going women because I had lost all of my weight. Whatever I had to say didn't matter anymore so I finally dropped out and gained my weight back.
I have been treated quite differently on the LW board. I feel like my success and experience is helping others which in turn keeps me going every day.
I you for knowing it was time to make this life changing decision!!!
