After 9 yrs,of keeping any gain off,now I have gained 17 lbs. My nut is not concerned about the gain, but it freaks me out! Today I am going back to shakes & jello. This time I am adding veggies to my shake. My iron is getting better,it was a 4,then a 9 and now it is at 34. I am pushing spinach in my shakes. I am still walking. My nut changed the way we were to eat, high er protein and high fiber. So messed me up. So want to first my sweet spot to be able to maintain. Thanks for listening.

Welcome to or back to the Lightweights!!!

Good for you to get back with us.  Maintaince is hard and there are a bunch of us here trying to figure it out.  Although there have been some who are successful with a "normal" diet and just being very careful, most of us have found that high protein, low carb is about the only way to go.

I was talking to someone the other day who was surprised I had surgery 4 yrs ago.  She said everyone has gained all the weight back by then.  Well, you certainly can.  You can out eat any surgery.  You have to find a way of eating that works for you.  I am 20 lbs up from my lowest and that was too low but I need to get rid of another 5-7 to be happy.

Post on Miles and Menus and we will be happy to try to help.  The initial losing was easy, this part is hard and it is for the rest of your life.

Welcome back!

You did a great job keep your weight off.  Did your nut change the way you were eating due to health issues?  If not, can you go back to the way your were successful?  I think we each have to find our own way that fits in with our life and if we are successful and staying healthy then it shouldn't matter to anyone else.

It would be great to see you posting in Menus and Miles.  It sure helps me with accountability.  I'm up some too and trying to get it off after 5 years.

I have had no health issues - so I don't know what she was thinking. So, yes I am going back to what Works for me. I still hate getting on the scales, the nut wants us to weigh in AM. & PM. Go figure, so now I am going to do it my way. Take care.

I used to weigh in the morning and at night, mainly because I was curious at how much weight I lost over night.  It really had no other benefit except when I was losing weight I was hoping my weight that night would be lower than it was the night before and kind of get a peek at whether or not the morning would show a weight loss.

I'm curious about what changed, too.  Did your calories increase that much or was it a gradual change?

Weight regain can happen to anyone and I am trying to stay diligent about not letting any gain get out of hand.  I don't consider 17 lbs a major gain, more of a warning to address what's going on.

In the last few weeks I've gained a few pounds and it always freaks me out.

The funny thing is several months ago I lost a few pounds without any changes and now I am wondering if it has to do with the weather change.  When it's warmer maybe I tend to eat less without consciously realizing it to lose some fat to stay cooler.

And then maybe in the winter I eat a bit more to add some insulation.  I have recorded my weight daily for years and I don't recall any significant shift in my weight around the season changes before but maybe I need to look back and see if this happened before.

I guess my nut learned at a conference that weighing two times a day would keep us on track, but that just stresses me even more. While I have been trying to follow the new changes,we were moving & dealing with some health problems with my husband. So I am on a regular routine of walking and doing shakes with spinach. I have not been back on the scales for a while.....will get to it on Monday. I go see my nut in about a week. Thanks for the help.
