So What Is Going On In Your Life These Days?

Several people have mentioned how quiet things have been around here lately, compared to the past when we all had stuff to talk about.  I suspect we still do, we just have other places to do that.

So, the other day I had my last Reclast infusion for my osteoporosis.  I won't have another DEXA scan until next year buy my last showed good improvement and reversal of the osteoporosis so I am optimistic.  This was my third Reclast infusion.  The first time I had horrible pain the next day but the last two were uneventful.

The week before that I had an iron infusion.  I didn't realize how tired I had been.  This last week I have been cleaning and doing things that I haven't been up to for a while.

The anemia and osteoporosis could be considered complications of the WLS.  Who knows?  I consider it collateral damage.  Had I remained morbidly obese I am sure I would have a whole different (or same) issues to deal with.  A few infusions is a small price to pay to have all the other benefits I have now that I'm not obese.

My job is going good, no problems.  I just celebrated 2 years there and it is odd to realize that no one there ever saw me obese and for the first time in my life, I have been around the same group of people for 2 years and never changed sizes once in that time.

In the past, over the course of 2 years I could be up 100 lbs, down 50 lbs, back up 30 and so on.  Honest to God, when ever I would run into people they never knew what size I would be.

I am going on 4 years of not being obese or even overweight.  My weight has been stable for the last year.  I had a bounce back of about 5 lbs a year ago.  No one comments on my size any more.  People are pretty much used to seeing me this way so I'm not hearing that I am too thin and I'm not hearing that I look like I've put on some weight.  It is just a non issue.  As it should be.

The weather is cooling down and the bike is going into storage.  I am hoping to get in at least one more good ride before it gets too cold.  I am going to join the community center and start using their pool and exercise equipment.  The membership includes water exercises but I have to pay for other classes so I may stick with the water for a while.

I'm still with the same boyfriend, nothing new there.   My grandbabies are great.  Still waiting for my son and daughter in law to be placed with a baby.  They've been in the adoption process for nearly 3 years and it could happen any time so please pray it won't be long.  I know they didn't expect it to take this long.  The agency kind of gave them a much shorter timeline so I know they are disappointed and growing impatient but they are hanging in there.

So, that is Tazz's world.  How is yours?

Tazz's world sounds pretty good these days.  Sorry for the medical issues but I agree that if you were obese, it would probably be much worse.

Folks tell me know that they don't remember me heavy.  I still carry pictures in my purse so I never forget.  I have been in the same clothes since getting to goal although I must admit, 8s feel better than some of the 6s in jeans and dress pants.  Still a lot better than 24s.

I stay busy with my ponies.  I have a full schedule this fall with several more drives and competitions.  I couldn't have kept doing it heavy.  I just didn't have the energy to walk the courses and do all the work.  I go to muscle pump 2x a week unless I have work meetings like I did this week.  I walk a mile and a half some days when I can't go and am trying to be more regular with that.

Work keeps me busy but I am kind of caught up right now so I feel freer to play and do some of the stuff I love to do.  I've been knitting a bunch and have a bunch more to do for Christmas presents.

DH is retired and drives me crazy sitting and reading or watching TV when there are so many other things he needs to do.  I wish for his health he would be more active but there is only so much nagging you can do.

All in all, I love my world.  I am stressed at time with work and would love to retire but need to keep working if I want the income to keep playing with the ponies.

So, that is Price's world.  How is yours?

Tazz I'm so glad you posted an update.   I think about our LW's that we haven't heard from often.

It sounds like you are doing awesome in the weight department!  I can hear the positive vibs in your post.

Life is treating me pretty good for the moment.  Like Price I'm always being told that people don't remember me heavy.  I was going to post  before/after picture on FB for TBT but I decided against it for now. The only reason I would do it is to encourage some of my "heavy" friends that I think would benefit from WLS.

Don't be a stranger....Stop in once in awhile!

Hi Tazz.  Sounds like your life is good!  Sorry about the infusions but you're right, if it wasn't that it could be a whole lot worse!

My life is busy.  I split my time between Michigan and Virginia for work and nobody (even myself) knows when I'll be where.  I just go with the flow.  I'm in Michigan at the moment and it seems whenever I'm here I've got SO much to do!  Been shopping for new flooring, then found out I need new soffits, baffles and insulation in my attic.  It's always something!.  Well, I'm a fan of YouTube and found how to do the soffits myself.  I did some today (wow a lot of hard work on a ladder), but figure I'll save a bundle if i can do that part myself.  The weather needs to hold though, not a good project for end of October in Michigan.  Weekend before went color sightseeing in Northern Michigan - was gorgeous and the weather was good too, which helps.  Sold my couch last week.  Living room looks less crowded - so that's good.

Grandbabies are getting bigger and cuter by the day.  My daughter is pregnant with their third (and final she says) and it's another girl!  They make such beautiful girls I know this one will be too.  She's applied for a new job and is going through the motions.  My son is getting married next May then I'm sure more grandbabies will be coming.  She's from a big family... so we'll see how that works out.

My weight is 10 lbs higher than I'd like it to be.  I've joined a boxing club (just exercise, not sparring) and MAN did it kick my butt and show me just how out of shape I am!  I'm going on vacation to Florida to see my girlfriend in November, I'm looking forward to that.

When I'm not busy doing everything else I really enjoy just sitting in my house, watching TV, reading and just relaxing.  I still have stuff to clean out, organize, etc, but it will all get done eventually (I hope!).

That's my world in a minute - who's next?

Hi, Tazz. I'm here doing the same stuff as usual. Work has it's ups and downs since government contracting is in such turmoil right now. They keep saying I'm safe, that I do stuff no one else can. (It's because I'm old and nobody else gets it.  And I purposely carved out a nitch for myself a few years ago.  lol)

Let's see...we have 3 grandbabies now but when they come over they share their colds with DH. Yeah, we need hazmat suits.

We're losing Newton, our shih tzu. He has lymphoma. We're treating the symptoms until his quality of life diminishes.  Sad about that. He was named Newton for one of this board's mascots.  You remember swinging lizards and talking about gravitational Newtons back in the day?

Hi Tazz,

Sorry about the anemia and osteoporosis.  I know for sure I would be on a lot more medication by now that I was on surgery.  Now none except the vitamins that I need to take everyday.

So glad your job is going good.

I have 2 granddaughters and 1 grandson and that is it for us as far as I know.  They are the best thing in the world and could keep us quite busy if we let them.  I am decorating cakes again, it was something I loved to do years ago and have started back for real this last year.  It is a slippery slope and I have to be very careful.  I can get hooked on the sugar/carbs pretty quick.

I am going to retire 6/30/2015 and am really looking forward to the next chapter in my life.  Work is so overwhelming sometimes that I can hardly function.  My brain just doesn't work like it used to.

It is beautiful weather here, so my hope is to get back to the walking/jogging.  I really enjoy it, but I tend to let my life take over and just say I am too busy...

Cooking today and trying some new recipes.  Another thing I love to do since surgery.

I am up about 8 - 10 pounds from my lowest weight and would love to get it back off but so far I have not had the focus to do it.  Still wearing the same size clothes but like Price some are more comfortable than others.  I know if I stop the carbs, the inner tube around my middle will go away!

That's it in my world.  Next.  How about some newbies - can we hear from you.  We would love to know more about you.

Sounds like things are pretty good in Taz world. Bummer about infusions, but you are right, it could be worse.

As for me, I've been pretty busy with a new job that has a steep learning curve. I found a job teaching independent study that had an hour commute each way, plus it was about an hour and 45 minutes to get to the rink after work. Then, I was offered the job I have now. I am teaching History at an online school. So now my commute is across the house. But there is much to learn and remember.

Skating is going alright. I am moving up a level for my next competition in early December. I will use the same two programs for the Christmas show at my rink. I am having some trouble with a couple of moves, one is a requirement. I really think a lot of the problem with this one is the loose skin on my thighs.

DH is still running. He did the Long Beach marathon last Sunday. It didn't go as well as he had hoped and trained for as his vertigo kicked into overdrive. He is running another in February so he can complete the beach cities challenge.

Oh, and we are now official empty nesters. Our son moved to Colorado last month. It is really strange not having him around. I'm just glad I have a step stool. I am short, and would always ask him to get stuff down from high places, he is 6'3" so he was helpful to have around.

Well, that's the update in my world. Next...

Hello everyone! It is so wonderful to read about everyone and the way lives have improved since WLS. I am not on here enough as I should be and rarely post but I hope to change that, as I need the support of others.

I am in my 28th year of teaching vocal/general music to middle school students and I just love it. My teaching has improved since I lost 60 pounds. I feel healthier, happier, more positive. I have a 30 year old daughter(also a music teacher)who is getting married next July and I am excited about choosing a dress for myself. My husband and two youngest children who are 12 and 15 now have a healthy wife/mom who has more patience.

Since the honeymoon period seems to be over AND I have a broken pinky toe which is prohibiting me from walking I am struggling with food choices, amounts, carbs, etc. Some days are perfect food wise, some days are horrible, and some days are just OK.

So I am going to try harder to write about my food on Roz's daily post and stick to it as much as possible. Less carbs, more protein and exercising when I can.

I wish everyone the best and hope to continue hearing of your progress in this journey that we all share.
