Coming up on my 5th year anniversary.
Morning everyone. Nice to see some familiar faces around that are keeping goals and still encouraging others. Sorry I haven't been around and sorrier that I haven't kept on track. I started a new job about 2 years ago that is fairly stressful. I guess that says I am an emotional eater and eat to relieve stress. Job has been good. Stress is more work related rather than management related like I had in my old job. I no longer fear I will get laid off if I mess up.
Anyway. Am reaching that age milestone of the big 60 at the end of this year and I am wanting to shed those last 20 pounds that I put on. I'd like to hit the big 60 a lot healthier than I am now. Work is paying for a monthly chat with a health coach, so not it is starting to set some goals then sit back and magically watch the pounds fall off.
First thing I know I need to do is start back on the protein shakes. I then to get tired late morning and mid afternoon, and have been going for the wrong types of energy. I did some research on GNC. They seem to have high sugar, high salt, or more chemicals than my old chemistry set. Can anyone name some good brands of protein? I tried my old brand a few months back and it was the old chalky taste which last few years of sugar diet has taken a dislike for that taste.
It is good to see all the new and familiar faces around. I will try to be a consistent visitor. - Randy
Welcome back, Randy!
My go-to protein shakes are still the Syntrax Nectars. You can by individual servings at VitaminShoppe or all kinds of samples from Vitalady.com. What you want are protein powders that are 100% whey protein isolate. The newer blends are much carbier because they use milk concentrates with more of the milk sugar still in them. If you search "protein coffee" or "your favorite protein shakes" here on OH you might get some ideas of how to spruce up a shake. It will take some experimenting until you find your special one. Good luck.

Hi Randy and welcome back!!
I love the Syntrax Nectars. They have a chocolate truffle that is really good. I put about 3/4 cup of Hood Carb Count Down Milk, 1 scoop of Protein, some ice (I add a couple tablespoons of lite cool whip) and blend it in the magic bullet - it is just like a milk shake - that is usually my night time treat.
In the morning & afternoon I love the SyntraxNectar Lemon tea Protein. I mix a crystal lite lemon tea stick in 20 ozs of water, then put this in a shaker bottle, add a scoop of the lemon tea protein and mix good, then add some crushed ice. It really helps me keep from snacking all afternoon.
Congrats on the new job - I know all too well about stress eating!! Good luck.
Linda

Randy - I really love the Unjury Chocolate Splendor. I'm super-picky and won't touch most protein powders because of the smell or taste. This one I love and have it every day with a teaspoon of instant espresso thrown in .
Unjury doesn't use any whey protein shipped in from China (most US companies do) so it doesn't have any lead, arsenic or mercury in it.
