Four Years!
The Good: I still have a normal BMI and wear US size 4 to 6, my labs are great, my health is wonderful (no prescription medications), I am very fit and happy. Working on getting my 5k finish time under 24 mins.
The Bad: I still think I am fat when I look at myself in the mirror. I have added muscle this year that did not change my clothes size but it did change my scale weight, which is hard for me. I understand that I am not “fat” because the weight increased a few pounds but well old habitats are hard to change. I am working on it. My BFF, a neuroscientist, thinks I am nuts to think I am fat and has graciously offered to perform a lobotomy on me. That reminds me, I need to hide my knives when she comes over. HA!
The Ugly: Skin with no fat has no structure and is everywhere. My melting candle butt is not a pretty sight. My stomach is both muscular and skin flabby. It is a strange combination. I am scared to have plastic surgery. I don’t want to die. I have too much to live for now. We will see if the fifth year will include some nip and tucking.
I am living my life as a normal healthy crazy person. I really love this part of my life. Here is too many more years like this one. Now, where is my cowboy prince?
Congratulations on year #4. I know what you mean about the melted candle look. Saving $$ for plastics. What I should really do is expensive.
I also know what you mean about seeing "fat" in the mirror. Even though my clothes tell a different story, I think body image is a big thing to overcome.
The scale can also play tricks on you. In y case, I am up about 3 pounds, but my pants are loose. I don't get it, but I think you are right, as we build muscle, the scale can go up a bit. We just need to keep an eye on it so the clothes size doesn't go up too.
Thanks for the post, it was quite encouraging.
You've done great! Happy surgiversary, babeeee!

Hurray!!! Hurray!!!
and yes, I totally understand. Since I have been doing muscle pump for over a year now, my fat % is below normal but I still look horrible with all this hanging skin and you can't see the results of the muscles. Oh well, it is still better than I was at 220 and I am mobile and active like not many 66 yr olds. But at 66, I am not doing surgery again unless my life depends on it.
Life is pretty wonderful, isn't it!!!

Happy Surgiversary. PLEASE when looking into plastic surgeon's....make sure you research them and talk to some of their previous patients if at all possible ( make sure they are over a year post op ) and see what they say about the surgeon's work. I am almost 9 yrs. post op WLS and over 7 1/2 yrs. post op lower body lift. I paid out of pocket over $13,000 cash to my surgeon and I have NEVER been happy with the results. In fact less than a year post op I went to a different surgeon for a second opinion....my ab muscles were NOT tight and I've never had a flat stomach. Don't get me wrong....my tummy hung almost to my knees post PS but still I did not get the results I was seeking and I have now had a re-gain due to being depressed over the results. So PLEASE do your research. BTW....I don't think I will ever not see the "fat" girl in the mirror. Congrats on your much success.

4 years is Awesome!!! It sounds like everything's going great!
I wish I didn't have all of this loose skin. I know for sure I wouldn't bounce between 118-120. I have at least 5+ pounds of skin but it is well distributed and I look pretty darn good in clothes for being 61. If I had the option to get PS I'm not sure what I would want to do first.
Do you live in an area that a Cowboy Prince is a reality.....?
