Not sure whether this is a stall or something else

Hi all,

Work is out of control right now.  I read occassionally but don't post much.  I've been having some health issues unrelated to the surgery.  Long story short my Gnyo has put me on low dose birth control to help with the issue of intense, debilitating pain.  If that doesn't help it's the knife again before the end of the year  Hysterectomyy.  I am NOT peri-menapausal, she checked me. It's Adenomyosis.  The good news/bad news is that the BC is helping BUT since I started taking it three weeks ago I have not lost a thing.  My weight keeps going up and down within a pound.  I have seen 166 once but it's been going back and forth 167/168.  I have not really had a stall as such since I surgery so it could be that.  But we all know (women) that BC can often cause weight gain.  Is it possible that if I take this pill I will not lose anymore weight?  I'm trying not to freak, if it's just a stall I can deal but when do I start being concerned legitimately? Should I call my surgeon or wait it out and see what happens?

It's very possible the BCP is affecting your weight loss.

But it's also very possible that you happened to be in a stall with this (kind of  like a double whammy)...  I'd wait it out 2 more weeks and if you haven't lost anymore, then contact your Gyno to see if he/she can change it to another type that may not affect you as much.

Thanks Jody.  I'm hoping I don't have to choose between losing weight or losing my insides!

Try treating it like a stall and see if that helps.  Increase your Protein total with GOOD Protein for 3 or 4 days and then drop back down.  That might get you started again.  I had a hysterectomy when I was around 31 (30 years ago) and NOT having periods is Awesome!!!!!

Thanks Roz, I'll give that a shot.  I'm getting frustrated.  I've been lucky so far until this, the longest "stall" I've had was about 10 days.

Yay! The spell is broken.  I lost 4 pounds this week! Thank goodness!  I am now just 9 lbs from my lowest weight when I had the lapband.  That took me two years to lose 100 lbs.  I am just coming up on my six month.  I love my by-pass!

I intended to Roz but I don't think I had a chance to, it just sort of happened.  Which was a good thing, though more protein would be in order since I've been working out really hard lately.  I've been trying to increase it. I am just so sick of most of the food I eat, the idea of MORE of it makes me a little sick
