Hello to all of our Lightweights!!!  If you are visiting WELCOME....PLEASE JOIN US and POST!!!!!   Besides my tool,  I count  Posting on the LW board as my #1 reason for being successful on this exciting journey!!!!

WARNING TO SELF AND TO ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN!!!   AVOID 'BAD' CARBS AT ALL COSTS!!!  THEY ARE ADDICTING!!  THEY WILL SLOW DOWN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS DURING THE LOSING STAGE (and you won't even notice)!!  THEY WILL MAKE THE SCALE GO UP AFTER THE HONEYMOON PERIOD IS OVER.

Success in Maintenance starts with GOOD  CHOICES  during the Honeymoon Period.

Good Morning LW's!!!

Those of you who feel bloaty around your mid section and your intertube looks a little bigger are you overdoing the carbs?  1 week of watching my carbs and even though the scale has barely moved I felt like my shorts were going to fall down this morning.  CARBS ARE EVIL!!!!!!! They will fool you on the scale,  make your clothes feel tighter, and might even cause you to be depressed or ready to give up. They are NOT worth it!!! One second of enjoyment can still your _________ (you feel it in)!!

After my wakeup call last week with the body scan, I upped my exercise and downed my carbs and it has made a difference.  I'm sure it is both but I do feel better and my clothes fit better already.  Still some pounds to go to be where I want to be but I'm getting there.  I've walked this morning and drove Teke.

That's awesome. And unfortunately carbs are always the devil.

So I've been quietly furious and frustrated that the scale would not drop below my pre-prednisone weight despite high protein, low-cal, liquid postop diet. I've tracked every mouthful since I got home the day after surgery.  I know I'm a revision but WTF (stands for furl I'm a mom) :)? Anyway, it finally moved. I wasn't weighed day of surgery and honestly I know it was about 212. I can't stand to post it and it isn't "real", it was not part of my regain, it was poison ivy gone Rogue - 3 high dose shots and 3 weeks oral prednisone  in total. I got off just 10 days prior which  affected my healing from surgery also. Anyway. Menus and miles kept me honest, sane, and on track. It's why I came back to the board. And finally 2lbs down (but really about 9 LOL).

B-chocolate protein coffee - 26g

snack-half avocado mashed

L-veggie soup plus protein - 16g

snack-jello

D-tomato soup plus protein and LF cheese-20g

snack-Greek yogurt-10-16g (plain, will add SF syrup to thin So not sure now much will eat)

OMG avocado sounds so good! I'm getting so tired of musclemilk. And grats on your loss =)

Thanks Jocelyn!  My fat numbers were really so low that it puts any carbs out of balance, I track my macros on myfitnesspal, I think, based on my experience, it will be ok.  It helps for hours with hunger too!  I definitely did not get the "no hunger" benefit of the sleeve, or maybe it won't show until I'm on mushies?  Anyway, I'm just glad the damn crapband is gone and I'm thinking like a WLS person again!

I can drink musclemilk but it isn't my fave.  Adding the unflavored to soups definitely helps my psyche, because it is FOOD.  :)

I'm getting soooooo sick of musclemilk since I've been on protein drinks for almost 3 weeks now (2 weeks pre-op). I ordered some of the unjury chicken broth and hope it comes soon. I had a packet the hospital gave me and it was a really nice change from all the milky protein drinks. I bought some isopure unflavored powder yesterday and am going to be adding it to broths to get a change.

I went to Mt. Vernon with my mom yesterday and she pushed me in a wheelchair most of the time since I'm getting tired so easily. I still walked quite a bit, and it was cool so I was able to. I slept REALLY well last nite =) I'm going to do some walking in my neighborhood this afternoon, hopefully I can get a longer one in than the same walk I took Thursday.

Today:

breakfast- strawberry musclemilk and vitamins

lunch- about to make some broth with isopure unflavored protein

dinner- not sure yet. Maybe more broth and isopure

You're doing great!  I'm always nervous that my surgeon allows purees so soon, since many surgeons only allow protein shake thickness and clears for two weeks, so I'm super careful with them and sometimes I reblend my soup just to make sure it's really runny!

I haven't tried isopure in just broth, but it should work.  I'm trying it with crystal light ice tea today, fingers crossed, LOL!  I need to practice "portable" clear protein options for school, fairs, picnics, etc so I can feel less obvious, since NOBODY knows I was sleeved when I had my hernia repair.

I used to drink musclemilk before half marathons, it was my breakfast ritual, so that's my association. :)

Ok so I tried the Isopure tea in the bottle, Roz, and now I used to with crystal light to make my own, and it's not the best but tolerable.  For sure I would LOVE the syntrax lemon tea, so where do you buy yours?  For now, I'm going to use up my giant unflavored tub for the month in a million different ways so I can have variety, because liquids make you crazy after awhile.

Thanks!
