ETA: Miles. My stupid computer chopped it off when I hit submit. Or it could have been an operator error
ETA2: Definitely the computer. Still chopping it off
Hi, Roz 😊 I love Fridays. They feel worthy of a celebration. Today, the family and I are going to the zoo for a late afternoon stroll and then walking over to Art Hill to have dinner at the food trucks and listen to a band. Afterward, we'll head home for our usual Friday game night. I also love St. Louis in the summer. The only thing better is STL in the summer on a Friday.
Menu...
- B: Coffee with Half & Half, Syntrax Pink Grapefruit (24g)
- L: Chicken Salad with Tomatoes (22g)
- S: Bacon-Stuffed Deviled Eggs fortified with Unjury Unflavored Protein (26g)
- D: High Protein / 200-300 Calorie Option from Food Truck (?g)
- Game Night Nibbles: Less than 11 Pretzel Crisps and 4 Twizzler Twists (
I've never been to St. Louis but I hear it's nice. My friend's hubby is the Quarterback Coach for the Rams.
How did you make the Deviled Eggs....it sounds Delish!
Except for the Game Night Nibbles...it sounds like a good Protein day.

Ah, yes... the game night nibbles. I always plan for them just because it eliminates the 'forbidden food factor'. Otherwise, I find myself feeling irritated that everyone else gets to nibble, I end up eating too much of things I didn't plan for, and then feel regretful and guilty. Sometimes I actually eat the 'nibbles' I plan, but most of the time, just knowing I can eat them is enough to make me feel in control and choose something on-plan. Last night, I chose to sip on a Syntrax Vanilla Bean shake made extra thick and delicious with a tablespoon of butterscotch sugar-free pudding mix wizzed up with ice. I pretended it was a salted caramel milkshake . At the food trucks, I chose four dry-rubbed chicken wing sections, so I ended up way over 100g of protein. Go, me!
For two deviled eggs, I mash the two egg yolks with 1T. skim milk, 1 T. pickle relish, light salt (optional), and finely ground black pepper. At this point, I stir in 1/2 scoop of Unjury unflavored protein until it's smooth. If it's too thick, add a few drops of skim milk at a time until it's a consistency you like. Finally, stir in 1 crumbled strip of crisp bacon. Fill the egg halves and sprinkle with smoked paprika. Each egg half: 58 cal., 6g pro., 3g fat, 1.5g carb.

Hi Roz!
So glad the weekend is here. Getting Pizza for the family, but sticking to my nice salad with all the fresh veggies.
Saw my PCP today and she was really happy, off all my meds except my antidepressant :(, off antihypertensive and statin. No more low BP or low heart rate. We are going to recheck my liver enzymes in August to see if they came back down, blood count is now good. She says some post of WLS pts just have elevated LFT's for no apparent reason. If still up I will go see a specialist to see if everything ok. But on the whole she is happy. I know I sure feel great! I have eliminated my am snack for over a week now, so I think it is gone forever! I would like to get down to four meals a day. but I am not sure I can get everything in in four meals.
B greek yogurt, barley, half banana, walnuts (this tastes awesome with cinnamon mixed in!)
L chicken, broccoli, barley
S apple and peanut butter
D veggie salad with chicken, barley,
S not sure cottage cheese? popcorn?
I am enjoying eating whole grains, I bought some Kamut, I am going to try that next.
miles 20 minutes treadmill,, 25 minutes elliptical, fluid 10 cups so far

Sounds like a good PCP visit! Has she ever checked your Protein levels?
I'm not sure I could ever get down to eating 4 times a day but I eat very little at a time.
Sounds Good!

Anne, I just got my bloodwork results and, for the first time, my liver enzymes are elevated. Not crazy high but my ALT and AST were both between 55-65. Weird and worrisome. My last three blood tests (before and after my WLS) were 18-19. I'm going in for a repeat test in a month. B12 was crazy high, too (1995). Everything else was in good range. I've read that the elevated enzymes can be indicative of impaired gallbladder function. If mine are still up in a month, she's sending me to a specialist, too 😩

I have already had a bunch of tests re the high enzymes and everything normal so far. the funny thing is that my BP heart rate AND white blood count all dropped at the same time llast fall. Everything is back to normal except the LFT's. My PCP says she has two other patients who had WLS who run a high LFT, and they have never figured out why. She did take me off a couple meds that can effect the liver and told me to NEVER take Tylenol. I go back to my surgeon in Sept, and if they are still up I have to go to a liver specialist. You know I did lose a heckuva lot of weight really fast, and rapid weight loss is hard on the liver.
Oh well I feel marvelous so I am going with that for now!
