Hi Roz! Drove back to MI yesterday. Every time I pass the Butler exit off the PA Toll Road I think of you ;)
I have to get back on track. I've put the few lbs I lost back on. Vacation last week I didn't hold back much (except for what would set my Reactive Hypoglycemia off).
Oh - I met someone last week that had the lap band. He's lost 120 lbs so far and has 40 more to go. He's been very happy with his choice of it. We talked quite a bit about the other surgeries, maintenance, etc. I asked him what his plans were for maintenance, the look he had was l like "hmm no one has asked me that before". Said he will keep the band. He's also an ICU nurse and has a good understanding of the various surgeries. It was a good conversation. There also was a guy there that had the DS in 2005. He lost a lot of weight, but still is heavy, but he's very happy with his results. That's all that matters.
Yesterday I ended up eating fast food. Wendy's grilled chicken sandwich, and stopped at BK at one of the toll rest stops and got a BK chicken "meal". Yea... I ate the french fries, made my sugar not feel good, took my glucose tablets and was fine. Laying in bed last night I realized I didn't eat the sandwich and threw it away at the following gas station! I didn't even realize it. What a ditz. So my food yesterday was a grilled chicken sandwich and french fries... at least it was the small one. I usually don't eat them, but they were good and hot. I knew I was playing with fire with my RH too...
Busy day - seems whenever I get back I have a ton of things to get done/catch up on. Who has time for work ;)
Today:
B - 2 eggs over easy with 1 piece of low cal wheat bread/butter
L - 3 ham/cheese rollups and 3 SF pickle spears (love these things). Also a few peanuts
S - double fuzzy navel protein drink
D - low carb beef stroganoff - no noodles. If I can get a spaghetti squash I'll try that.
Water: working on it.... doing pretty good
Vits: need to do.

How did the subject of WLS come up? I get so mad at myself sometimes because people make comments about how tiny I am and I blurt out I had surgery. I wish I could just accept the compliment.
It sounds like you are on tract now!!

He was very open and upfront about his WLS. He would come right out and say it. I think it started with eating habits... worked in to weight loss.. etc. Of course after he shared I did too. Not everyone I know in that group knows I had WLS.. I'm not necessarily keeping it a secret, but at 6 years out it doesn't become the focus either. I eat "normally" for someone my size.. and rarely get questioned about it.
I'm not told I'm tiny anymore :( my own fault.... You need to just say "thank you"... if you feel you need to say something else, just say "it's always a struggle but I do my best!".

Is it your birthday this week, or just your coworkers?
Had a strange thing happen today. about 2 1/2 hours after lunch it wasn't time for my 3 pm snack I felt like my blood sugar was bottoming out. We have accucheck machines here at work, I should have checked it but I didn't . I went ahead and ate my apple and peanut butter and , and still felt a little shaky so found a minibag of popcorn that I ate. That was the only food in the office! I know sometimes RNY patients have issues with hypoglycemia, but I don't think VSG patients do. I had plenty of protein but lunch was a little low in calories. I did exercise a little hard this am. I have been eating a little carb with my lunch, but only ate salad and chicken today. Oh well will see if it happens again. I haven't had this happen for a really long time back when I was super low on carbs and calories.
B egg, ww toast, tomato, ham
S hard boiled egg, orange
D veggie salad, chicken breast
S peanut butter, apple, minibag of popcorn
D chicken , brown rice and veggie
S greek yogurt, lemon pudding powder-----this is really good.
miles exercise bike and treadmill, fluids 10 cups, vites yes
My birthday is Friday. 60 was hard and now I'm going to be 61!!! I've figured out when I'm shaky it's usually need something carby or I am dehydrated. I seem to get it when I'm out shopping or do something with my girls and I forget to eat. I try to keep a Protein bar in my purse just in case.
Sounds Good!
