You are 17 days post-op and you're freaking out because the stupid scale (and they are ALL stupid!) went up less than a pound one day? I'm going to be harsh here: please get your expectations in line or this is going to be a VERY bumpy road for you.
Nobody on this site has lost weight perfectly and consistently EVERY SINGLE DAY! Which is why a lot of people advise you not to weigh every day. It messes with your head and takes the focus off of what you really need to be doing. And it sounds like you are doing everything perfectly. The water, protein, etc.
You are NOT stalling (you can come back on here and whine when the scale hasn't moved in any direction for a MONTH) and it is virtually impossible to be gaining any fat. All you have is a bit of water weight hanging on and that can happen for lots of reasons. Time of the month, change in temperature or activity level...you name it, our body likes to hang onto water for lots of reasons.
The surgery didn't fail; you're not failing; but your expectations are going to set you up for failure if you don't check them at the door and stop being so unreasonable and hard on yourself.
There - lecture done! Now for some hugs - keep up the great work!
Put the scale away. follow your plan and be thrilled that you are doing exactly what you are suppose to do. It will work for you. I know you are frustrated but you will be fine, just chill. Add another protein shake. And you said you were "getting back to basics" where were you before????? 17 days out, you still should be in basics. If you work your program, it will work for you. did you take your measurements before surgery? if not, do it now. There are lots of things more important than the scale.

Like Price I am questioning "Back to Basics"? Does that mean you ate/drank more calories than your plan recommended? If I'm remembering right you had a low BMI and had the sleeve??? Would you mind putting your surgery type on your page. I had the RNY and had about 80 pounds to loose but I only took in 400-600 calories for a long time and then I gradually added some in. I think I was at 800-1000 at about 8 months out because I increased my Protein drinks.
