Questions for you lightweights
Hi Everyone,
I'm glad I found you via a link posted by Laurie in the VSG forum. I've been looking for you for awhile as I've been a member of OH since February but not knew how to find you. Why doesn't "Lightweights" show up under Forums or Groups? I started out with a BMI of 41 but now I'm at 36. I really like the Lightweights Creed posted on one of your profiles. Can anyone tell me where you all find the shakes that give you 30g of protein per serving as shown in the Menus and Miles posts? Also how about the tea you show that provides 13g? I need 2 (20 g) shakes per day to get me anywhere close to 60 and as I'm still not eating that much, I'm only hoping that my food is providing the additional 20 g. Thanks for your help!
PS-Laurie mentioned that I check out a post here about slower weight loss on this forum. Where would I find that? Thank you!
Welcome. We are hard to find with the new OH format, that's for sure. I have us bookmarked or I would never find us, LOL.
I post the 33g and 13g on miles and menus a lot. My 33 is a scoop and a half in a shake at night with water or a scoop and a half in about 3/4 c of water that I use to cream my decaf each morning (all of a 5c coffee maker). I use Syntrax matrix for all of that. Vanilla, mint cookie, chocolate. The 13g is a half scoop of Syntrax lemon tea. I mix it with a tube of mango peach or peach tea crystal light in a 20 oz blender bottle. I drink it hot in the winter and cold in the summer. It's 23g per scoop but I am getting about 130-150 protein these days and so 1/2 scoop twice a day is plenty for me.
Southern Lady, Liz, has a post about % of excess weight loss vs pounds that is probably what you are thinking about with slower weight loss. We lose at pretty much the same rate if you consider % of excess weight, not pounds. Our heavier friends look like they are losing more with their 30 lbs a month but really, our 10-20 is the same % of excess weight.

Welcome, I use a 30 gram shake from premier Protein that I buy in 12 packs RTD (ready to drink) from Sams Club. The tea is probably the Syntrax nectar lemon tea flavor, half a scoop added to some crystal lite is about 13 g. I usually make a large tea for 23 grams.
I had to go back to December but I found the post Repost-Do-Lightweights-lose-slower-OR-Its-not-POUNDS-its/
I started at a similar BMI and made goal in a year, welcome again and glad to have you hang out with us :)

Welcome to the LW Board. Congrats on your surgery.
I love the Lemon Tea made by Syntrax Nectar. It has 23 grams of protein per scoop. I mix a crystal light lemon tea or some other kind in a 20 oz bottle of water and put a scoop of lemon tea protein in it, mix well and then add crushed ice.
I also do the protein coffee. I use the Cappuccino Syntrax Nectar for that. I brew a cup of decaf coffee. In a separate cup I mix about 1/4-1/2 cup of Hood Calorie Count down milk and a scoop of the protein. Mix well and then pour into your coffee. Don't put the protein into your hot coffee or it will make a mess it has to be already dissolved before you add it to the hot liquid. This has a little more than 23 grams because of the milk but not much more.
I do protein shakes at night. I use either Chocolate Truffle or Vanilla Bean Torte both of Syntrax Nectars. These do not have carbs or anything like that just 23 grams of protein per scoop. I put 3/4 cup of Hood Milk in a cup and mix in the protein powder to dissolve. I then add a couple tablespoons of lite cool whip(this makes it thicker). Then I add some crushed ice and blend in my magic bullet. It is just like a milk shake you can buy somewhere.
Good luck!!

Judy,
I'll respond to you in case Katy misses this.
Go to Apps on your phone. Then go to Search. Type in Myfitnesspal and it should pop up as a free app you can download. You can do it on a computer also. Use the same user name and log in and you can track both places.
The iphone has neat features such as scanning your foods if they have a barcode on them.

Exactly, thanks;)
