I have been at the same weight now for 1 year.  I wanted to get down to 136-140 ish, but my body is stuck at 150i****hink I may have unintentionally gone into maintenance without realizing it by letting those dreadful carbs back in.  Can anyone tell me how many carbs is too many, I know everyone is different but how many carbs do you try to stay under?

Thank you

I stayed under 30 net while I was losing.  I found I could eat the same number of calories with less carbs and lose weight, more carb, stay the same.

I suspect it's not just the amount of carbs you are eating but the kind.  Carbs from fruits, vegetables, dairy and the such don't affect me like the refined carbs, sugar, white flour (or any wheat for me).  I can eat an apple and be satisfied but if I eat a Twinkie I start craving more things with sugar.

While I was losing I kept my carbs under 100.  Now I don't count them but I am careful to keep my diet protein heavy and not carb heavy.  And I still avoid the refined carbs, sugar and gluten.

Everyone is a little different, but for me, while losing, I kept it around 35-40. I am like Taz, if I eat refined garbage, or anything with wheat or sugar, I just want more. I am not a NUT, but I say drop all refined junky, refined, and starchy carbs and see if that helps. If you already have ditched these, back the carb number down until the number on the scale goes down. Then adjust to that level.

I have been tracking a bit more lately trying to set up a routine at my new job, usually I don't track.   I aim for 100 grams of carbs, 80-100 grams of protein and 100 oz of fluids (all kinds counted, including coffee and protein shakes)  I am in maintenance now, when in loss mode I did not count carbs I just focused on protein and fluids.

For me it was a percentage of calories. So first I was around 25g, then 45g, then 65g. And kept sugar carbs to a minimum.

No one would answer this question at my doctor's office so I played with it. I try to stay between 60-80 carbs and protein and 1000 to 1200 calories a day. I also try to stay away from bread, chips & fries (my weakness), sugar, and candy. However, the doctor did say that my body would decide what was best and I would stay at that size for a while then I would creep up no matter what. He said I should gain no more than 5 lbs. If I gain more than 5 lbs, I am doing something wrong.
