Hypothyroid???

Ok so doctor says i have all of the symptoms of hypothyroidism so they are running more tests and sending me to an endo doc. If this is the case ( and he says the cause for no weight loss since 3 months out.. i thought it was 5 but he said according to his records I've been about the same weight since august) will meds for my thyroid get my weight going down again? Anything and everything you know about weight loss surgery and thyroid disorder would be GREATLY appreciated.

I'm hypothyroid...have been since 2007 when mine suddenly went south.

I take both levothyroxine (generic for Synthroid) (for low T4) and Liothyronine  (generic for Cytomel) (for low T3). I manage to fit them in if I take them during a middle of the night potty run.

My levels stayed stable thru out my weight loss phase and did not hinder or help.

Most people ONLY deal with the Synthroid one but adding it did not help so I made them test for low T3 and sure enough, it needed help too.

I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism around 2000.  The biggest change I noticed when on the proper dose of medication was my energy level and focus, not my weight.  My understanding is that the weight is affected indirectly through low energy levels.  Once these levels are brought up to normal then a person will want to move more and hence burn more calories.  I'm not a specialist so seeing an endo is critical since the human metabolism is an extremely complex system regulated by the thyroid hormones.
