struggling mentally with slow weight loss

Both of you ladies started out right about where I did.  I hit goal in 9 months - keep your eye on your prize!  :)

One thing I hope both of you did, was to take your measurements prior to surgery.  I did this every month on my anniversary date and recorded them.  There will be some times when this will save your sanity.  You may not be dropping pounds, but your clothes are fitting looser - then you'll drop a few and it goes on.  That's the way it worked for me - the other thing is to look at the PERCENTAGE of weight loss, and not just pounds.  Both of you have lost 5% of your body weight so far... (from surgery) and 10.5% from your highest.

Another thing I did (I was a scale ***** - lol) was weighed EVERY day.  I had an online app I used to record my weight.  I could go in and look at my loss for a month - basically going back for 30-60 etc days.  There were times when it seemed I wasn't losing at all (calendar month), but when I went back (perhaps looking at 15th-15th of the month) I could see the previous 2 weeks I had lost maybe 5-7 lbs.. It also graphed it.  You could also just use an excel spreadsheet if you wanted to.

This is definitely a journey - not a race.  You WILL make it to your goal!

Thank you for the encouragement.  Yes, I did take my measurements,  I have not checked them yet.  I was a slow loser before so I don't know why I am surprised. Great job meeting goal in 9 months👍😜

I am in the same boat.  I am currently at a standstill. I have been walking and riding the bike when the weather allows it.  I am 5 weeks out and this is the first week I am standing still. My surgeon yelled at me for even getting on the scale.  He said it will drive me crazy. Which it is.  I guess I am afraid of gaining weight.  I know I have to work on getting all my protein in and my water. But every day I set little goals and try to meet them.  Hang in there you are not alone!

I had surgery about the same time as you, and gained 9 pounds from surgery! That didn't seem fair at all. Then I went through the third week stall. But if we keep making good choices, we'll succeed. We got this!

Ok guys! I had the same problems too - because we are starting at a lower weight it comes of a little slower than those of a higher BMI.  The weight loss stalls around 3 - 5 weeeks.  I am on week 7 now!  Finally it has begun again and is slowly but surely coming off!  Go to the search icon at the top and search for LIGHTWEIGHTS.  It will bring you to the lightweight forum where you can find others that are struggling with the exact same things. It is a forum that is for those of a lower BMI, and with different struggles than the higher BMI's.  We lose differetnly than other people, and it is nice to have the support of others around us that are of similar stature.

Congrats on your Surgery!!!   Everyone loses differently so try not to compare yourself to anyone else.  I was a slow loser before WLS and that continued on after WLS.  I honestly think losing slower is better because it takes awhile to figure out what works for you and it seems like the ones who lose fast have trouble maintaining.

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!

Thank you so much Roz, You were a huge help in getting me where I am.  You helped me so much to understand all of this during my pre-op.  I am thankful I had the surgery but realizing I have sooooooo much to learn.  Thankful for all of your wisdom.

The only thng i can add because you've heard all the good, sound advice, but just to let you know that I was right there with you, almost on the moment of my third week my stall showed up an I was pissed! I tried everything...I work out every day, track my food, drink my water, and I was hungry, what almost everyone says they never are! Well, just this past Saturday the scale started moving again and I am back to losing a pound a day. It will happen for you guys, I promise! Hang in there!

Why do they put that scale out for all to see...? I do count my pre op loss.  Actually my highest was 5 years ago at 235, I lost down to 190 then gained back to 220 and held that for years.   My body fat is being very stubborn.  I have been a yo yo/fad diet queen my whole life.  I have a sense of relief that that part of my life is over.  I never want to buy another "diet" book.  I have quite a library already
