struggling mentally with slow weight loss

Hi All,
My surgery was 3/3 my high weight weight was 220, I weighed 208 on the day of my VSG surgery. I am now 197, and frustrated to not see the scale really moving. I am trying really hard to get my protein in and fluids. Is this normal? Am expecting too much?
Thanks so much
Karla
You are not quite a month out yet and have lost about 11 lbs. That isn't bad. I know it isn't what our heavier friends lose the first month but we are lightweights and we have to look at % of excess weight, not just # of pounds. And most of us gain some some water weight with surgery that we have to lose that first few weeks.
So work on your fluids and your protein. That really will help. It will happen, just keep on keeping on and stay with your program. Start walking or some exercise as your plan allows. Pretty soon you will be a few months out and wondering where the pounds went!!!

Karla - you are a super-lightweight...and you are doing fine! We lightweights may post a big number the first OR second month, but after that it's just slugging away at it. So - yes - you are expecting too much right now. Relax as much as you can. Fluids are more important than protein at this point so make sure you are at least getting 64 oz. per day. And then inch that protein up to 70-80 oz. as soon as you can.
It will happen for you - promise

I hear you about the protein drinks. Actually, I would rather go hungry than drink them. I get really tired and find myself wanting to lay down after meals. I just thought at 500-600 calories a day I would see a more drastic drop. I will need to trust the vets on this one since I am in unchartered waters. Yes, trudge together we will
Everything was too sweet for me in the beginning. The unjury chicken soup was a lifesaver. It was the only thing that wasn't sweet. Also, unflavored protein that I could add to food. that helped. There are lots of ways to skin a cat other than drinking shakes.

Thank you Price, I ordered the Unjury Chicken and plain protein powder and its great. The chicken soup is not as salty as others I have tried. I had a MAJOR sweet tooth prior to surgery now not so much. Never in a million years did I think I could turn down chocolate. My husband was trying to eat his ice cream without me seeing him last night. I told him to eat away that it was not hard for me to look at it. He was glad:)
EVERYONES taste buds change after surgery. It was about 6 months before I felt like mine were back to normal. Everything tasted extremely sour, sweet, spicy etc.

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!
