In planning for my trip to visit baby boy and his family, I covered all areas. I had Amazon send RTD protein shakes to Florida. I counted out my vitamins. I sent a request for dense protein purchases to DIL so the pantry was stocked prior to my arrival. I felt so proud of myself. Then life happened...

I flew to Florida while my luggage flew to Mississippi with my vitamins, other medication and clothes. A major NSV: I was able to wear my skinny DIL's pajamas while waiting for my luggage to catch a flight to Florida. I did experience some withdrawal symptoms because of the lack of medication. Yet, I was handling things and staying on plan....

that was until DIL asked me to make banana nut bread. Now, I am not a cook but I honored the request to bake. I searched for a rather healthy recipe, added extra bananas and eggs to make the bread healthier. And the result was very very good....

I know this because I ate off plan--- TWICE-- I had a slice of banana nut bread. Sadly I justified this splurge because I hadn't had my medication and was all jittery.

After 36 hours, my wayward luggage arrived. I have taken my meds and vitamins. I am feeling so much better physically; however, I am really bummed that I ate off plan. I am frustrated that I justified this off-plan venture so easily.

So note to self: pack my meds in my purse and don't eat off-plan again. I am so close to my goal. I really want to get there ASAP. I will stop sabotaging myself with poor choices.

I am now back on plan. I am in strict WL mode again. I like the boring routine of my plan. Well, going to eat my protein....

Don't beat yourself up so bad... the surgery allows us to eat foods in moderation, not totally cutting things out *all the time*.  But, with that said,  you know what your goal is and you know how to do it.  That's the important part is getting back on track.

I agree - pack your meds in your purse or carry on.  I used to carry my protein powder too and never got questioned (in a zip lock bag).

Have fun on your trip!

Glad you are back on plan and made it ok without the meds.  Now, know that it isn't going to be the last time it happens and determine that you will love yourself and forgive yourself and get back to life.  This is a life long pursuit to be healthy and the path isn't straight.  You never could go through life on a diet before surgery (or I couldn't ) and you won't be able to never stray after.  Now is a good time to figure out how you are going to deal with it.  I give myself permission to go off course from time to time.  I am much further out than you are but I want to be happy with me, not mad at me.  So start processing all that and you will be fine!!!!

Wow...you speak truth! There is no end to these good habits and I am committed to that. I will forgive myself and live myself when I go off plan--thanks for the support! Thankfully there is always another day to start back on the healthy path. 💝
