Back on the Sleeve wagon!
and so happy about it. I feel a sense of relief. I've been going crazy thinking about all of this since Friday. I've had my heart set on the sleeve knowing the potential risk for GERD and knowing that I may have to take PPI forever if need be. My GERD has been good as long as I stay away from caffeine, OJ, spicy foods and tomato sauce. I can live without those. Plus I think that this GERD that I have is because of my weight.
I called the doctors office up and talked to the person I have to talk. She asked me if I was sure and I am 100% sure. I'm ready for the sleeve and excited. I have to do what I know is best for me. I've been listening to others too much and their opinion and what worked for them. If sleeve was available to them then I wonder if they would have changed their minds. I know one said she would have and she probably had the most weight to lose out of all of them. I was worried about not losing as much with the sleeve but from the research I've done sleevers lose just as well. PLUS! it's a tool. I know I have to eat high protein and not different than if I was having RNY. Same restrictions. As long as I do what I am suppose to do I WILL do it :)
I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT A WEEK FROM TODAY I WILL BE SLEEVED!!!!! ON MY WAY TO A NEW ME! :)

I have absolutely no regrets about choosing the sleeve. I had no problems post op except constipation. there is a lot of great post op diet advice over on the VSG board. I have lost almost 120 lbs and have been at goal for a couple of months. With the sleeve the dietary changes are super important as we don't have the calorie malabsorption like the rny. I have gotten on the VSG board almost every day since surgery and wouldn't have succeeded like I have without all the things I learned there. I come to this board every day and post my menu also,

good for you. I wanted a sleeve but insurance wouldn't pay for it. So I went with RNY and haven't been sorry but I think both are good surgeries. They are both tools, each a little different but both can get you where you want to go (so can DS). So be happy with your decision and I'm sure you will do fine.

I can totally relate to your situation. I had GERD prior to surgery and was told it could get worse. My surgeon was great and explained both procedures and told me it was my choice. Two weeks before my surgery I changed from an Rny to a Sleeve. Best decision I made, I had been so nervouse about the Rny and the rerouting. I have no problems with GERD, I think for me it was what I was eating. The decision was all yours and whether you chose the Rny or the Sleeve we would all be rooting for you. I am excited for you and wish you the best on your weight loss journey!
