Nutrition Class frustration

Had three nutrition/weight loss classes and they keep telling me that their goal is to get me to make permanent changes. They act like they suddenly have some magic spell that will suddenly make me workout more, eat less, loss weight and keep it off forever.  I already know everything that they are telling me and know that IT DOES WORK because I have done it time and time again. It so annoying to talk to these people who act like they have the key to keep me from having surgery when I fit the criteria and have my mind made up. I guess its just part of the red tape. Anybody else deal with this same crap? And of course I hear from the nutritionist and others in the class that I look fine and don't need to lose. Its crazy that the weight loss folk say on one hand I'm obese and then say I'm fine. Geez

Stay strong. Smile and nod and do what you need to do for you. This is for you, not for them. :)

Fortunately I didn't have to go through that....Sorry you have to!!!   Do what Gina says.  Listen and then do what you feel is best for you.

Find out on your own what your insurance requires and make sure you follow that to a T and make sure everything is noted at the Surgeons office.

thank them for their concern and tell them it is a decision made between you and your doctor.

go back a day or two and read the lightweight code.  We have this board because we are different and face different issues.

I knew HOW to eat, I just did it to excess.  I knew what they were teaching, but they, or at least my group, taught to the class and there were lots in my classes that had no clue.  And if you read the main board, even after surgery, there are lots who don't have a clue.

99% of the information they have applies whether you have surgery or not.  Surgery just gives us a tool that makes the information useful in a whole new way.

You are soooo right. I think they should have a beginners class and one geared for WLS in stages to prepare for surgery if they are going to require 6months of nutrition classes.
