WARNING TO SELF AND TO ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN!!! AVOID 'BAD' CARBS AT ALL COSTS!!! THEY ARE ADDICTING!! THEY WILL SLOW DOWN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS DURING THE LOSING STAGE (and you won't even notice)!! THEY WILL MAKE THE SCALE GO UP AFTER THE HONEYMOON PERIOD IS OVER.
Success in Maintenance starts with GOOD CHOICES during the Honeymoon Period!!!
Happy Over the Hump Day! We are having a heat wave today! It's 27 out and the 50's are on their way!! I think I figured out something with my bladder pain! I am in far less pain on the weekends than I am when I work. I noticed that I come in to work and have no pain and then about an hour later I am hurting down to my knees. I think sitting at my desk is the culprit! I've looked up some articles that say sitting puts a lot of pressure on your bladder and I'm thinking that all of the extra skin on my tummy is extra weight that probably isn't helping it. If I prop my legs up under my desk I can feel the pressure easing up because I am sitting back more. The last 2 appts. I've had with the Dr. were immediately after work and I was in terrible pain both times. She got upset with me at the last appt. because I couldn't name anything on the "do not eat" list that would be the reason for the pain. I'm debating if I should print off some of the articles in case she looks at me I'm crazy.
My Menu is not your typical WLS Menu: I am a strict believer in Protein drinks but at the present time I am not allowed to have them because I have been diagnosed with IC (Painful Bladder Syndrome). Success means: Protein first then add other foods!!!!

I think you should definitely print the articles. And you might want to keep a journal - make an excel spreadsheet where you track your food and intake but also sleep patterns, siting patterns and rate your pain levels at timed intervals throughout the day on a scale. This kind of journaling helped the neurologist Finally diagnos and then treat my husbands illness after several years. It sounds like you are onto something.
I am on vacation in France for the week at my in-laws so food is a bit different for me but I'm trying to stay on plan.
B: coffee then protein yogurt - 38g
L- duck breast with creamed garlic green beans - 20g
S- protein bar - 15g
S- 6 brazil nuts. - 6 g
D- cabbage soup and sheep cheese with salad - 5g
S- yogurt protein - 23g
Working on vits and water. No miles
That's a good idea Ashley and I will print out the articles. When she kept insisting I had to have eat/drank something to be causing the pain she got really upset with me and said it could have been from 3 days ago. I've talked to other women with this problem and they all say it happens within an hour and one woman said with me having the gastric bypass it should happen even sooner. They all said there is no way it could be something from 3 days ago because our bladder is constantly absorbing and releasing fluids that go into it.
Enjoy the in-laws!! Is France where your DH is from?
I love cabbage soup! Your menu sounds good to me!

I agree that it seems far fetched that something you consumed 3 days ago would affect your bladder. But I'm not a medical professional! Logging pain levels, feelings, mood, sleep patterns etc is a pain but it can help the Dr to see patterns in groups of seemingly random symptoms that can be decisive in diagnosing and treating patients. My husband was ill for 2 years, misdiagnosed with possible brain tumors, fibromyalgia, MS, tinnitus, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome to name a few. At 36 years old he had the physical condition of an 85 year old. He was housebound, spent all his time in bed, couldn't work, could hardly walk or string 3 sentences together he was so exhausted from just surviving. Through his journaling and thanks to a wonderful neurologist who pieced it all together,, he was diagnosed with untreated Lyme disease and was back to work after 3 weeks of antibiotics. Needless to say, I am a Huge fan of the excel spreadsheet! It is worth the hassle.
Ironically the dr who diagnosed him was an American friends father who was visiting Belgium and agreed to consult with my husband in our living room. As this dr is a neurosurgeon from California and he pieced it together for us. Saved DH's life no doubt. Lyme gets a bad rap as it mimicks other illnesses, and found and treated early it's no biggie. But untreated or misdiagnosed it is insidious! I hope no one in your family ever has to deal with it!
WOW...Your DH and you have been through a lot. A close friend has Lyme's Disease and I have seen him endure all of the symptoms you mentioned. He gets some kind of shots but he just keeps having relapses of it.

We have been battling this disease since 2007. My husband still suffers from some symptoms and has neurological damage as well as permanent joint arthric symptoms that get worse in a cyclical way that we manage with antibiotics, anti malarial pills and homeopathy. In Europe Lyme is not common and little us known about it. DH has been treated in Belgium, France, Holland, Germany and in the US. It's been a long road that I wish we weren't so intimately familiar with but we've learned how to appreciate good moments when we are in them :)
Extra skin on your tummy?? Methinks that's a good reason to get a TT!! ;-)

I was thinking that too but she didn't go for it. I'm not giving up on the idea though....LOL I'm still going to talk to a surgeon and see what they have to say.
