Hello to all of our Lightweights!!!  If you are visiting WELCOME....PLEASE JOIN US and POST!!!!!   Besides my tool,  I count  Posting on the LW board as my #1 reason for being successful on this exciting journey!!!!

WARNING TO SELF AND TO ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN!!!   AVOID 'BAD' CARBS AT ALL COSTS!!!  THEY ARE ADDICTING!!  THEY WILL SLOW DOWN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS DURING THE LOSING STAGE (and you won't even notice)!!  THEY WILL MAKE THE SCALE GO UP AFTER THE HONEYMOON PERIOD IS OVER.

Success in Maintenance starts with GOOD  CHOICES during the Honeymoon Period!!!

Over the Hump Day!!!!  Today is DH's Birthday.  He wanted one of my chocolate cakes and I should have put a face mask on over my mouth!!!  I didn't ice it and I covered it up so he wouldn't be tempted to cut a piece. I tried another Protein Drink and I did put a little SF Caffeine Free Rootbeer in it like Candy V. suggested.  It was really good so I'm going to buy some RB flavoring on my next trip to the grocery store.

I had my yearly check-up at the Gyne last night.  She raved and raved about how I've kept my weight off and she has so many patients who come through her doors who have gained their weight back.  Do you think we are more successful because we are LW's and most of us get to a normal BMI before the honeymoon period is over. I asked her that and she said that most of them never got all of their weight off and they just gave up.  I felt guilty that I had under 100 lbs. too loose and I felt so sad for them.

Breakfast:       nothing

Happy camel day!!   Happy birthday to DH too!!

I think that part of the reason we're LWs is coz we didn't wait longer to get WLS... who knows where we'd be if we waited another 5 or 10 years.  I guess our 'oh no' level is lower than some other people's - clearly not as low an A-lister though, as witnessed by my muffin top!!   If only I could get my butt in gear to run 4 miles a day like Victoria Beckham!!  BTW that's about an hour's running!!

I think that someone once posted how surgery will take off 100lbs and the rest is up to diet and exercise and diligence. I kinda think this may be more true than we all want to believe. I also think that lightweights get to lower numbers on the scale which of course looks like success because they started closer to those low numbers than higher BMI folks. Or it could just be that LW's are awesome. I think you are doing fantastic Roz! And it's great that your doctor is cheering you on like that.

I do think that our 100lb loss is a lot more noticable than our heavier friends who have maybe 2-3x that.  A friend who lost 200 is still huge and I know she will never get it all off.  Surgery would help her appearance but not sure she will ever do that either.  Sometimes I feel like I was cheating because I only had 100 to lose and it made such a difference.  She lost 200 and its hard to tell.  Doesn't seem fair somehow.

meeting today and it was raining when I could have been walking but I will go to muscle pump tonight.  It is almost 70 here.  Hard to believe. And the snow is finally gone between the warm and the rain.

Hi Roz

I think being a Lightweight definitely gave us an advantage to GET it off - but it doesn't do us any good to KEEP it off... that is due to pure diligence and following the rules.  So yes, you are a success.  You could easily have gained back 20-30 lbs if you let yourself, but you didn't.  Don't feel guilty - it is what it is.

Glad you liked the root beer float.  I should try that.  No Vanilla powder here tho... but there IS a GNC by where I'm getting my hair done... hmmm... so instead of root beer, there's a root beer flavoring?  I can drink fizzy stuff... so that wouldn't bother me.

B - coffee w/unsweetened Vanilla almond milk (can't taste the vanilla) and splenda

B2/L - egg scramble with some veggies and 2 pieces of link sausage

S - double fuzzy navel protein drink w/ 2 tablespoons of citracel (hope I don't pay for it too bad!)

S - got hungry... 2 SF pickle chips and some garlic ring bologna and a chunk of cheese.

D - not sure yet.  I have some hamburger thawed out...

Vits:  Not yet... I bought some vitamins at the grocery store and am having a hard time fighting them down.. gack!

WATER:  doing good.

Hi Roz, Glad you liked the root beer float flavor, I had it again today.  39 degrees and sunshine today!  Heat wave for Michigan.

I don't talk too much about the losing process as far as advising ppl because I felt it was fairly easy for me.  No stalls really for me, a weekly loss was my norm. I can see that causing problems farther out, I am not disciplined like you guys with counting and measuring.

17 months post op

B. 2 cups coffee w sf creamer and Splenda. Lg Root beer float protein shake, just one scoop protein powder though.

L. Snow Crab legs

S. Cauliflower casserole.  I made it again, I love it

D. I have beef roasts in the crockpot. I threw them in w some red wine, beef broth  and veggies around 8 am. They will cook all day.  I will remove the meat and blend the rest to make a gravy, I just use a little corn starch.

Yes it is plural (roasts).  I have to make 2 to feed my hungry man and teenagers.  Mixed veggies to go with it.  There should be some leftovers this way for lunch tomorrow. lol

S. Cucumber, carrots and ranch dip.

Fluids -water, Hot mint tea, coffee, protein shake

I had DH sync the iPad with his xbox 360 so I can use youtube on the big tv. It is hard to exercise using the iPads tiny screen.  Yoga and strength

I am pretty new to maintenance, but I think that a lot of people take the weight off just because of the physical changes, but they don' t really make permanent behavioral changes.  Keeping it off is definitely harder than taking it off and it takes daily diligence. I think we LW just look so darn CUTE after we lose our weight that people just go AWWWWW.  haha.

Hi Roz,

Happy Birthday to DH!  I agree with Jody that maintenance is all on us and we have to do what is necessary to keep it off.  I know that if I didn't pay close attention I could gain quickly.  Our board meeting is tomorrow night so it is going to be a very long day.
