This talks about the mind part of big weight loss and I think we have all experienced it in one way or another.  Good for newbees to realize it is coming and for veterans to know it isn't just me.

Thanks for sharing. Becoming healthier does include resetting the mind and emotions as well as the body.

Yes, it is a very good article and points out some very important things that we don't realize going into the "big weight loss" part of life.  One thing they didn't mention specifically, except for "body image" is the extra skin we have afterwards.  How many of us embarked on this journey thinking we'd be in cute clothes and could wear a decent bathing suit to the beach?  Ok, in addition to getting our health back....

And found out that the hanging skin was just as much of accepting our bodies thin, as we had to being fat.  Some, not all have been able to correct it via surgery, and some have opted not to, as it's not that big of an issue to them.

I have seen on singles boards about folks who wonder what new partners will think of their "hanging skin" and be turned off by it.  I know some spouses feel the same way...

So it's all part of the journey.  How we look at it, deal with it and accept it will decide on how successful we are in our OWN minds.

The skin issue can be a big deal.  I guess I have always known that age and genetic play a large part in it, and I don'****ch those biggest loser shows but they sure don't look like they have skin issues.

Personally, I live with mine but it doesn't mean I am happy with it.  I can't wear all the cute workout clothes that everyone wears at the gym and just last night as I was getting ready to knit the sleeves of my new sweater, I was having to accomadate for the hanging arm skin.  Happy that DH seems to care less but that is part of being married for 42 yrs and being old as dirt.
