Success in Maintenance starts with GOOD  CHOICES during the Honeymoon Period!!!!

So Happy its Saturday!!!   DH did get out of the hospital yesterday. We didn't hear the results of the echogram but I'm assuming it must be ok or they would have kept him.  He informed me that the pain was worse than he let on (he thinks I'm stupid and didn't know!!)  We will be married 40 years for goodness sakes....I'm not that dumb!!!     We enjoyed a heart healthy breakfast of oatmeal this morning (something I NEVER eat).  This is going to be a big change for him/us.  I'm going to look for an inside grill sometime today.  Do any of you have one that you really like.   We aren't going to today's competition it's way to much walking and commotion.  I've been getting text's from my DD and they have 3 firsts so far...YEAH!   If DH feels better this afternoon we are going to try and go to our Grandson's baskeball game.    Not much planned for eats.  I've got to concentrate on taking care of DH and me second.

Hi Roz.. you need to take care of both of you - don't let your eating slide so you feel bad again...

Yea on the 3 firsts!  I know you love going to these.

Yea, men think just cause they don't tell us something, we don't know... glad he's released - just make sure he takes it easy.

Not sure what I'm doing today.  I have a follow up appt at 4:30 for my eyes. Probably wouldn't hurt me to clean...   I have some interior doors that need to be painted - and I'm procrastinating.  We'll see... Someone is supposed to be coming over, soon, to look at some tires I have for sale.  Wish he'd get here already!

Not sure what eats are today.  I was down 1/2 lb - but the losing is sloowww now.

B - coffee and 2 scrambled eggs w/onions/cheese/ham.  Made it with unsweetened almond milk.  Turned out good.  Probably about 4 carbs overall (including coffee - I put SF creamer in it today)

L - leftover chicken cordon bleu

I figure his heathier eating should help me too.  I told him no more fast food and we need to cut down on the sodium. I bought a salt substitture....YUK.  I don't think I can do that. I wonder how long he will listen to me....lol.

Hope your eye appointment went good! Do you have before/after pictures?

Your scrambled eggs sound good. I put Canadian bacon in mine last week and it tasted so salty I couldn't eat it all.   I probably need to look for some ham that says low sodium.

Oatmeal - I've not had that in about a decade due to my IBS - funny all the things we do and don't eat and the different diets we follow at different times in our lives (I used to be vegetarian).

Anyways, I'm heading off to the airport now and will be traveling tomorrow so I probably won't be online much.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Hi Roz,

Glad DH is doing better.  I bet he is going to have a major change.  I love oatmeal, but everytime I would eat it I would feel naseated and start sweating. I think I was dumping on it-no idea why...maybe too many carbs at that time.  I might try it again now since I can eat more.

Glad the teams are doing so good.  I don't really have a food plan yet today.  I am probably going to work most of the day.  I have a lot to finish before I go to my training next week.

My washing machine is not draining and is overflowing water on the floor.  DH is trying to get that fixed-I hate when he has to try and fix anything....makes for a really bad day!!

We stopped at a restaurant after DGS basketball game and I watched him struggle over the menu just like I do.   I felt really bad for him because I understand what it's like to give up your favorite foods.   Most menus have healthy heart foods listed so he picked a baked fish.  His friend is an ER Doctor and he came last night to check on him.  He said to let him have his steak but not to fry it.  He was really tired after the game and eating out so we didn't get to look for an indoor grill so I'm going to check them out on line today.  I like to read reviews before I buy things.

I can't wait until DH feels better and he can fix a few things...lol.   He is going to be pretty bored being off for a month.  The blessing is winter should be near over before he has to go back to work.  This will give him some idea what retirement might be like.

Hope you made good food choices!

Roz, I am so glad your DH is doing better.  Heart issues are so scary! Is he going to have a hard time changing his eating habits?  Mine is clueless, regardless of what I tell him! I decided I need to shake things up a bit so I am replacing one of my snacks with a ptotein shake.  My weight actually dipped below 140 to day, so we will see!

B left over salmon, sweet potato and cabbage (my kids were grossed out)

S celery and peanut butter

L veggie salad with salmon and cranberries and sunflower seeds

S syntrax chocolate truffle

D out to eat for DD birthday probably a salad or meat and veggies

S small piece birthday cake?

miles- no, fluids got to get working on that, vites good

DH loves everything fried, gravy, and donuts. Yes...he is going to have a hard time adjusting....this is going to be me...!!!

I hope that Protein drink works out for you!    I think your breakfast would gross me out too....lol.
