Menus and Miles Thursday Jan. 23rd
I hardly recognise your menu Roz! So sorry you have to give up your protein shakes. Can you use unflavoured protein powder? And is your NP worried about possible side effects with mint tea? I had to give that up as I suffered from peptic ulcers caused by my Lap Band. Mint can cause too much acid in the tummy. I was drinking it a lot so maybe it's not an issue ..... Fingers crossed for you.
I joined a gym last week, a very major step for me and today I met w/ the coach and set up my program. I'm very excited and I was able to do all the exercises and lived to tell about it so I am feeling pretty proud.
B: coffee then protein shake = 23g
s: sliced chicken, avocados and cheddar 25g
s: protein yogurt = 38g
d: Vol au vent (Belgian chicken pot pie filling) = 15g
s: hot chocolate protein = 23g
all my vits and water and 2 hours of gym time
I worry about the mint tea too. She says that as long as the only ingredient it peppermint leaf I won't have a problem. So far it seems to calm my bladder. Every week I have been taking her labels of protein that sound good to me but she has shot them down. All of her reasons sound logical. I'm going to find an Unflavored Protein that sounds good to me next week and see what she says. This last one was good except for the word isolate so I'm hoping the same company has a good unflavored one. I haven't tried making the Greek yogurt shake yet but it's on the list for this weekend.
Do you put unflavored in your protein yogurt or what do you use to get 38g
That's awesome you joined a gym. Keep up and you will be glad you did it!
Love your Totals!!!

I'm glad the mint tea gives you relief. I really miss it but found since I gave up black and green tea I have less constipation and since that is a Huge thing I've just found herbal replacement that have no "tea". My morning protein yogurt is a plain natural "brasse" style yogurt which is high in cultures and very smooth and liquid. The French have 100's of styles of yogurts but I don't know an American brand/style that is similar. It has 8 gr protein and 67 calories. Then I add 1 tbls of ground flax seeds and 1 60g scoop of a "complete" protein that has 38g of protein. It is flavoured , strawberry or chocolate. I only like it mixed in the yogurt as it makes it quite thick and not soupy like the syntrax nectars. The powder contains whey and egg proteins. It fills me up and I rarely need to eat again before lunch. In the early days post op I used powdered milk in my coffee and in creamy style soups, I added it to fage Greek yogurt, and even cottage cheese to up my numbers. The Fage yogurt is fantastic. I mix in pesto, or Indian curry pastes to give it a savoury taste and then dip veggies or make wraps with deli chicken or I mix in Splenda or agave syrup for sweet or I use it plain in chili, with avocados, anything really. It's a miracle food!

hahaha...are you working from home? I just ate my scrambled eggs and realized that lunch was in 45 minutes. I'm not use to eating all of this food.
Not sure what you ate but the planned foods sound good!

Found this recipe for yogurt based shake on Fage's web site. I bet you can modify it to work with your restrictions.

I was also going to ask you if you were allowed to used unflavored protein powder. I don't know if you eat cereal but Kashi go lean has 10 gms of protein.
I found a new Celestial seasonings apple cinnamon tea that I really like. I get so sick of plain water. I have stopped artificial sweeteners since my liver enzymes were up.
B greek yogurt, bran buds, craisins walnuts
S celery and carrots, kashi go lean
L chopped steak, summer squash, half banana
s apple and almond butter
d chicken, wild rice, beets
S popcorn with a little olive oil
miles couch to 5 k, vites yes, fluids will probably be 12 cups.

I loved the "Friends" Kashi cereal and used to bring a bag to munch on when I needed something crunchy but I can't find it anywhere. There is a list of Kashi's that I am allowed to have so I'll have to check them out.
I am shocked at what artificial sweeteners can do to your body! I'm not allowed Equal, NutraSweet, and Truvia. I've been using Splenda and Sweet n Low without pain.
I love your variety!!!
