Hello to all of our Lightweights!!!  If you are visiting WELCOME....PLEASE JOIN US and POST!!!!!   Besides my tool,  I count  Posting on the LW board as my #1 reason for being successful on this exciting journey!!!!

WARNING TO SELF AND TO ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN!!!   AVOID 'BAD' CARBS AT ALL COSTS!!!  THEY ARE ADDICTING!!  THEY WILL SLOW DOWN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS DURING THE LOSING STAGE (and you won't even notice)!!  THEY WILL MAKE THE SCALE GO UP AFTER THE HONEYMOON PERIOD IS OVER.

Success in Maintenance starts with GOOD  CHOICES during the Honeymoon Period!!!!

Over the hump day!!!

My Dr. visit went pretty good.  I was down 3 lbs. on her scale...YEAH!!!  She isn't happy that I haven't given up my Lemon Tea but I told her I am just not ready for that.  I gave up 1 serving of it and I gave up my Mint Cookie which was a HUGE sacrifice.  She wants me to make my Protein with Fage Greek Yogurt and blue berries.  I don't like thick shakes and it's not going to give me as much Protein as my drinks so I don't see this happening on a regular basis but I am going to try to make one to see if I can even stand to drink it. I feel like  I am on WW again. She gave me a list of foods and what brands I am allowed to have and she doesn't want me to stray away from the list. Did you know chicken thighs and breasts that you think are healthy might actually have MSG (chicken broth) injected into them?  Our local grocery store does that to their name brand.  No wonder it is soooo tasty and juicy!  She says that Walmart's Nature's Basket doesn't inject anything into theirs.  I guess that's why it doesn't look as plump and tastes dry to me.  I have a lot to learn but I am up for the challenge!!!!  At some time in my life maybe I can pass the information I have learned onto to someone else suffering with IC just like my friend who is helping me out .

Hi Roz, I haven't posted in a long time. I do the Sunday weigh in to help me see my patterns in weight fluctuations and to help keep me in check.although lately I have completely fallen back into old habits eating chocolate ,cookies chips, cake and candy. I started over today. I'm having four protein shakes that's a hundred grams of protein, I had 4 ounces beef roast for lunch, I'm having string cheese for my 4 o'clock snack, for for supper I'm having a 4/5 oz elk burger, pickles lettuce, ketchup no bun. I will be having the same thing pretty much every day except my suppers will change between fish chicken beef and elk. I have been lucky so far and my weight has sat down at 130 but I know eating those things I will be back to 189 in no time. I guess we really are on a diet the rest of our lives.

So Happy to see You posting!!!!  I've been having trouble with my bladder so I have been eating more carbs than usual because they were soothing and then over the holidays I had a little to many bites of sweets and dips.  They scales stayed steady and then I woke up and I had gained 2 lbs. then another and then another.   I'm really glad you have decided to get back to basics and are posting before you started gaining!!!!

Retirement party today at work.  it was really tough staying out of the goodies, and put me in a super bad mood.  But I managed to eat only the chili I brought and some salad.  I should quit being such a whiner!

What is the Protein Coffee eveyone is drinking?  I drink the Synthrx Lemon Tea are you talking about a coffee flavor they have?  Just curious.  Thanks!

You can buy a Cappuccino flavor Syntrax Nectar. That's what my hubby likes. I still make his protein coffees the same way as the directions below using cappuccino flavor, but a shake made with just cappuccino is good too.

Protein Coffee

brew a pot of your favorite coffee - we like chocolate raspberry (you can also brew chai tea and use in place of coffee)

In a 20 oz blender bottle with wire ball, add 2 oz of heavy whipping cream and 2 oz of cool water, or 4 oz of half & half, a packet of Truvia or Splenda, a couple of dashes of cinnamon, and a heaping scoop of Syntrax Nectar vanilla protein powder.
Shake about 5 seconds to blend
Pour the protein slurry into a huge mug and fill to the top with coffee
Sir to blend and enjoy!

Always add hot liquid to cold protein slurry to keep the protein from clumping.

Always check the ingredients of a protein powder before you buy it to ensure the first ingredient listed is whey protein isolate. Don't trust the splashy label on the front.

Hi Roz,

So can you tell a difference in how you feel with the changes you have made in your food?  I would have a hard time giving up my lemon tea also.  I might could give up my protein coffee but would have a harder time with the lemon tea.  DD got good reports today.  Her thyroid can probably be controlled with a change in her medicine.  Her lung spots was a fungus and she will probably have to take the anti-fungal medicine.  One more doctor has to look at it and they have to get some blood work back first.  They will have to watch her liver and kidneys closely while she is on it.  Hopefully the surgeon will release her next week to go back to work.
