Please give me your opinions/research/experiences on the importance of starting the day with breakfast.  I have heard conflicting reactions to this and just want more input :)

I personally could make it to lunch with a few cups of coffee and some days a protein shake too.  But I have heard it can slow down your metabolism to not eat in the am.  I feel it is a waste of calories to eat when I am not hungry!  What do YOU think......

I exercise in the morning so I always eat breakfast because it's important to get a little protein and carb in after a workout.   But it's something light like an egg w/cheese or a piece of lunchmeat at 6:00 a.m..  Then I drink my shake on the way to work and have a small snack around 9:00 a.m.

Candy - I agree.  why eat if you're not hungry?  A couple cups of coffee, even protein coffee and I'm good to go.

My pouch is at the smallest in the morning and eating is sometimes hard.  I find if I let my body dictate when it's hungry and eat accordingly, I eat at 10:30-11 and at 3:30-4.  Then I'm done.

I believe folks eat too much according to a clock, and not when they're body says they're hungry.

I know others need to eat smaller, more frequent meals.  We need to listen to our bodies more.

I eat more frequently than you, similar times to start but at least once more. Once I start eating for the day,  it is not going to keep me from eating dinner if I ate a breakfast I did not even want LOL

I drink a protein coffee, then a decaf coffee and then have a Lemon Tea Protein Drink all before lunch.  I usually never eat any food before lunch.  I thought the protein drinks would do the same as food to get your metabolism going-I could be very wrong here though...

Some days I don't even have a protein drink.   Those are the days I wonder about, just multiple coffee (with a little milk and SF syrup) or creamer and splenda

I'm not a breakfast eater either.  I usually have a cup of coffee and something at around 10:30AM because I need to.  the only way I make my protein counts for the day is if I eat a high protein breakfast :\

Guess we are all different.  I love breakfast and have it every morning after my protein coffee.  Yeah, it may be close to 9-10 but then I just shift lunch to 1-2.

I don't know if anything, ie a protein drink will keep your metabolism going but it makes sense that it would, that you wouldn't need dense food to do it.

My first breakfast is yogurt. (And coffee...but the coffee tends to last tile 2nd B)

Second breakfast is more...usually a couple of eggs and bacon or sausage.

I've eaten breakfast almost every morning for the last 20 + years...the only times I haven't were ahead of surgery or lab work, etc.

Eating breakfast is just a habit now.

I love breakfast. I work out at the gym every morning.  My dietician told me I need to eat something containing protein within half an our of working out.  that tends to be around 730.  Lately I have been eating a piece of fruit or some raw veggies around 10.  I don't usually do protein shakes, but some people start their day that way.  i guess we are all different and have to do what works for us.  I don't feel well if I don't eat something by 9 or so.
