Found a keeper of a PCP

Okay, dh and I have been fighting lab issues since we got our surgeries three years okay. Our PCP in Knoxville, while good was hampered by being employed thru the University hospital. As long as we had a surgeon's lab order, he would do them but neither mine nor dh's were ever a complete set. SSSOOO this summer, we combined his lab slip with my lab slip and what Vitalady suggests, ran it by MajorMom who has been studying this since she had her DS and ther levels tanked...she got her info from vitalady. She now runs excellent labs.

Anyway, I walk in armed with studies, previous lab slip, bone scan, etc and a copy of what I wanted him to do at a minimum of yearly, HE didn't bat an eye. He signed off on it (okay, generated his own but based it on mine). He has a lab in his office but they told me that they didn't have all the tubes...so I needed to reschedule or go to the hospital OR to LabCorp. Going to LabCorp in the morning!

Oh and too bad today wasn't weigh in day...down 4 lbs since Sunday...but it's not official til this coming Sunday. I always weigh before seeing my doc so I can keep an eye on the accuracy of my scale versus his.

My surgeon give me a lab slip each year that also isn't complete.  I just write in the other test I want done.  No one has ever questioned it because each Dr thinks the other is ordering it.  Like they don't do D every time and don't do K at all.  So I just added them.  My D was in the 40s, lower than I want and my K was at the bottom of normal even with me supplimenting daily.  I'm sure it was low before I started but I would have never know if I hadn't written it in.  My PCP retires in March and I am not looking forward to a new one.

Yea you!  I've fought this battle too.  My WLS surgeon has good labs, but they're also not complete.  I DO write on mine "copy to pt".  Well see if that happens.  I did find insurances doesn't pay for A...

New lab this time.  I had them drawn the other day.  The "nurse" says "I'll use these 3 tubes" and hardly looks at my order.  I'm awaiting the results... Frustrating as It has taken me awhile to get back to have them done.  Prior it was a minimum of 5 tubes.  I knew enough to say "are you sure".. sure said "yup"...

I had ONLY thirteen tubes yesterday and that was the full list! I do know they are getting better at getting several tests out of one tube tho.

3 tubes are hardly enough even for some simple labs we need.
