OT Work Will Be a Lot More Boring Now

As some of you know, I finally found a job after 3 years of looking.  I really enjoy my job.  It is in customer service and when it's busy the day just flies by.  But I work on weekends and it can get very slow at times.  We were allowed to have e readers, tablets and even laptops at our desks to entertain us during the slow times but we just got a memo stating that starting today there will be no more electronic devices allowed at our work stations.  We can bring books, newspapers and magazines and that is it.  I don't mind the books because I have tons that I have picked up that I haven't gotten around to reading but I really did enjoy playing games on my tablet to pass the time and now I'm afraid it's going to drag.  Oh well, carry on, I just wanted to whine.

Did they say what their reasoning was?  Did someone not do their job because they were on their device?  Unfortunately it only takes 1 person to misuse a privilege and everyone else suffers.

Whine away... I would too!

bummer.  Do you do any hand work, knitting, etc?  That would be my life saver.  I don't sit well and although I like to read, my eye's won't let me for hours at a time.

I was at a job once that was so boring and I remember when they said that they were considering taking internet access away and I almost cried!  I feel for you.....hopefully the reading will make the slow times go by......I wish I had more time to read!!

Since I work on weekends it is a lot slower and I haven't seen any instances where the electronics have caused problems but during the week it's a different animal and when I work on Monday's I rarely have time to look at my phone or tablet, or read a book for that matter, but there must have been some who were letting their electronics get in the way of doing their job.  Thanks a lot for making things more difficult for the rest of us.  I may have to take up knitting or crocheting again to pass the time.  Fortunately I have a huge stockpile of books that I get at thrift store that I haven't gotten around to reading.  It just bugs me when a few people abusing a privilege causes everyone to lose that privilege.
