How Long till Goal? I think I have a solution
Well here is a rough realization I have come to... A few years ago I was around the same weight I was pre surgery. I began taking ali and counting calories ( not carbs and by no means was I eating healthy ) This was either five or six years ago almost to the day... Started as a new years resolution. It took me 2 years to get to the weight I am now and at that time I moved across the country from Oregon to Pennsylvania. When I got to Pa I continued to count my calories and it took me an additional year to loose forty pounds which is my current goal. My final goal is to be in maintance between 135-138. Now when I was on this diet I was on 1200 calories a day... no****ching carbs, eating whatever I wanted, and only counting calories. So I figure it can still take me a year to loose the same number of pounds because currently my calories are at 1000. There is some debate about how many calories I should be getting a day but this is where my body needs to be. The last month has proven that. If I go lower than 1000 I stop loosing. SO one thousand it is. My new goal is not to be at maintaince by my one year, which is May 13... but instead to be at goal by Christmas next year. That gives me the same amount of time as I had when I was not eating healthy and getting 200 more calories a day. I believe this is a reasonable goal. I'm no longer setting sites on May as goal but rather December as maintance. I hope I can do this... I have to stop thinking of this as a means to an end... there is no end to this, I must continue this journey forever. I have to stop looking so far into the future and realize that today is just like being at goal and maintaining. What am I doing today that would be different then when I am at goal? Well that's what I have to change. The only difference there should be between now and goal is that at goal I will be eating more calories. I need to have a plan that works now and after I reach my goal. This was my big down fall in my huge weight loss I had before. I was working towards a goal with no plan for maintaining it. So I am working on what I would do if I were maintaining. Is this how I want my life to look like, can I live with the way I eat and drink now? Well I better get to a place where this is how I live my life. A place where I am comfortable and able to live with how I am doing things. So I'm taking a new out look on my food consumption and what I'm eating and how. I'm really going to focus on my liquids... How I am going to get my liquids in. I have to figure out a way that I can do that and not be bored or feel forced. I'm going to experiment with differnt flavored waters and different methods of getting my liquids in. Other than that I have no problem living eating the way I am. I'm not over doing anything I am good on my carbs and I'm gettingin plenty of protein. But this is my plan and I"m sticking to it. I know it's a little late to be coming to this realization but I guess I'm a slow learner. I get it now and it makes sense. Thanks everyone for the support, I"m sure I will need plenty more as I make these adjustments. HUGS
