I am no longer working and due to my time at home I am REALLY struggling getting my water in. I feel like I'm getting a bladder infection which happens a lot to me when I'm not getting enough liquids. My urine is so dark and is really strong smelling. I know it's from lack of water so I tried something new. Before I had my first shake this morning I had a bottle of water. I just made my shake and took out another bottle of water. When I finish my shake I'm going to do more water. If I can get two in before I eat lunch that would be best. I have to start getting these liquids in if it kills me. I don't want to stop loosing weight because of something so simple especially with as hard a time I'm having loosing weight any way.

One good thing though, I picked up some work out DVD's since I'm not working any more and getting that exercise I figure I better do something. I got the shed to shred and a tae bo DVD. I like the Billy Blanks Tae Bo, it kicks my butt but it's fun. The other one is still kind of hard because the jumping and stuff brings about some bouncing of fat that hurts. I started the DVD's yesterday and only made it about 8 minutes each but I'm shooting for 10 minutes today. I'm gonna try wearing a gurtle and a bra with a sports bra to see if it helps with the bouncing. That hurts too much for me to just free range it.

I'm so disappointed that I can't go to the Ymca any more. I just can't afford it and it's not safe to walk where I live because it's a busy road and no sidewalks. It's a bummer cuz I would like to start walking or interval walking/ jogging. I know it's kind of cold for that but I feel so much better when I'm doing that. The intervals make me feel like I'm really accomplishing something. Besides that I would LOVE to do another 5K The closest one is about a 25 min drive away and won't be until summer time. I guess that's enough time to get into shape for it. I just don't know that I can jog it without training. Maybe if I can get through both of my DVD's a day I will be prepared. Idk, I want to do the couch to 5k type training again. My asthma doesn't permit me to go more than maybe 3 min of jogging at a time but my walking breaks aren't more than a min and a half so I guess that isn't too bad considering. Maybe this time will be different if I can just get out there and start training. I want to do a 5k so bad!!!!!

Any one out there with asthma who has successfully completed the couch to 5k? Do you have any tricks to get me into running or even jogging shape. My chest just tightens so bad while I"m running. I have even tried doing the inhaler before I go exercise. It doesn't do much to help. I just need some way to get me through the running. When I first start to couch to 5k I have to take a break after only 30 sec of jogging. I'm not even running I'm only jogging and not much faster than a fast walk. Also does anyone know of a free app that is the couch to 5k? I need the timing to keep myself going. I also need to listen to music to keep myself going or I really really struggle.

Anyway that is my update. If anyone has any suggestions on the water or the couch to 5k let me know please. I would also love to hear anyones success story with or without asthma who finished the couch to 5k and successfully did a 5k. I would like to eventually do a 10k but I don't want to get ahead of myself. Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day.

No asthma here but years ago when I lost a bunch of weight, I went from walking to running very slowly.  I would just jog from one light pole to the next, then walk a block, then another short jog.  By doing it very slowly, I could add until I was jogging the whole thing but it took me months.  Walking is great exercise so consider the jogging icing on the cake.

Thanks, when I am able to jog at all I feel such a huge amount of accomplishment. I absolutely LOVE jogging. it gives my day energy and I just feel so much better. I don't get the same effects from other exercises. I just really want to do this.

I loved running and understand your thoughts.  However, running didn't love me and my hips broke down, leading to months of being able to do nothing and gaining a lot of weight back.  Just be careful.  Take it slow.  Figure out what else you love and make adjustments as you can.  I now love muscle pump and I get the same joy from that I did from running.

Just wishing you luck, never have been a runner and no asthma here either. Just be careful though, doesnt the cold air trigger asthma in some people? So be careful this time of the year. Good luck!

Great plan.  I personally hate jogging. But love walking.  One way to do that when I was not able to afford that was to drive to safer area and walk - jog there. Or try to find a gym that may either be cheaper (Like fitness planet - I think their basic membership is $10 per month) or see if they let you volunteer in you local Y and due to hardship - allow you free membership for a couple of months. (My friend lost her job and she got 2 free months based on her financial situation and the fact she was member there before for over a year.

Yes cold air is one of my triggers for asthma. It burns my lungs. I can't afford a gym and the closest one is still pretty far away. I live in the middle of no where and kind of have to make due with what I have available. I kind of live close to a ymca. I'm going to apply for a scholarship with them when I get my taxes in. They need a copy of your taxes to see what you made for the year before they will grant you a scholarship, I would love to go back to the Y. I am kind of intimidated by jogging on the treadmill though because I fell on one a few years ago when I was really heavy and there was a very fit guy in there who just laughed at me instead of seeing if I was ok. He was like, haha the fat girl just bit the dust. I left crying and cancelled my membership the following day.

That's horrible he said that.  I would have cried too.  Or flipped him off....

I hope you can figure something out.  I don't have asthma, but too find the cold hurts my lungs.  I have a treadmill in my family room and find it's even hard for me to use it there!  I have an elliptical machine in storage in my trailer, because I have no place to put it.  I'm not very disciplined when it comes to exercise, unfortunately...
