Fail to plan, plan to fail

Probable one of the best little snippets I learned from Weigh****chers.

I woke up thinking about Thanksgiving. I am working 12 hours thursday and friday. So atleast I wont be too tempted by all the trimmings at the dinner table.

BUT, bless my pt's and families hearts, they can bring some pretty amazing things in to us.

Need to make sure I have some things with me to keep me on the straight and narrow. I know in the past, pre surgery, being at work seemed to make it more ok to over indulge, because, well I deserved it working on the holiday. Not anymore. Plus its no fun to dump at work! But a nibble here and a nibble there still adds up.

What plans or strategies do you guys use to navigate through some of the toughest eating situations?

This is war girls, battle of the bulge!

I need tactics! Cant afford anymore regain this holiday season.

My birthday is in January and I would like to be in the 140's, 130's would be preferable but I dont know if thats likely. Maybe by spring for sure.

Other than that, its the usual, laundry, need to go to the store. Curves and yoga. Cant forget Buddy Love either. No walk for the past 2 days, he is a little crazy this morning!

Have an amazing day!

I'm a January baby too.  20th for me.

We will be on vacation for the holiday.  We are stopping this weekend on our way to the resort at my sister's who is a fantastic cook but has been with me the whole way in this journey, from coming to help the first week I was home from surgery on.  Thanksgiving dinner we will eat out.  No way I am going to try to cook a big dinner without my own kitchen.  Other meals I am trying to cook and pack as much as possible so we don't have to eat out.  I have made white chicken chili and carbquick rolls so far.  Probably make pizza crisp today.  I have a turkey breast that I think I will cook and leave part for everyone sandwiches and the other half make into turkey salad.  Of course, I will take my protein and protein bars.

today, going to pick up hay early then meetings this afternoon.  Muscle pump this evening if I get done in time.  Workmen here at the house for the next few days working on the replacement windows that leaked and now my hardwood floors are buckled.  At least they are taking responsibility for them and repairs are on their dime not mine.

My whole family understands why I eat like I do and doesn't try and force food on me anymore.  If I say no, they respect that.  They've all seen me "feel bad" because I ate too much or the wrong stuff.  My sister living with me has been a bit eye opener for her regarding that.  I'll look at milk in the fridge and she'll say "do you really think you should be drinking that?"... nice to have a conscience around.

Thanksgiving will be at my nephews and I'm responsible for a dessert.  I always try to take something low in sugar, and sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't.  I've got a few recipes I'm going to be looking at.

Hang in there and remember the goal - 140's by your birthday!  Nibbles really DO add up.

I can't afford anymore regain either.  My girlfriend that i went on my trip with and I have a goal to lose weight by New Years.  She wants to lose 15 lbs, I want to lose 5-8.  Seems doable, right?  HA!  These are the same 5-8 lbs I've wanted to lose for months!!!  We can do it Maria!!!

Planning makes such a difference with me.  Also putting it into MyFitnessPal, because I seem to be a lot more stingy with my calories when I do that.  Try to drink a lot of water/liquids that seems to help me stay full.

I am cooking for Thanksgiving for our families.  I used to taste a lot as I cooked, but have really tried to stop doing that.  I know that can add up quickly.  I do have a bite of everything, but try not to eat too much of it and try not to snack in between meals.  My protein drinks really help with that.  If I can just stay away from the sweets!

All advise I need to take myself!!  I can't afford any regain this holiday season either.  I still need to get this extra 5-6 back off.

I ate very clean yesterday no sweets and no bad carbs - this morning I felt so much better when I got up.  It is amazing how one day of good eating makes you feel so much better.

We can do this Maria!!

I get 2 Thanksgiving dinners this year plus at work we always have a potluck (I'm working Thanksgiving day).  What I have done for the past Thanksgivings is to always bring something that I can eat so I don't have to worry about whether or not there will be something I can eat there.  That usually isn't a problem anyway since Thanksgiving means turkey and I love turkey :)  But side dishes can be tricky if I don't know if there is sugar or gluten things in them.  And if there is only ham I don't like ham.  Anyway, this year I am making sugar free, gluten free pies.  I got some gluten free pie crust and I think I will make a chocolate pie, sweet potato pie and an apple pie.  In the past I have always brought sugar free, gluten free cheese cake but I am going to try something different this time.  I might make some almond cookies again, too.  Very easy.  There is a recipe for peanut butter cookies which I think is just peanut butter, Splenda and an egg and I use almond butter.  Tastes great.  I have to look for that again.  My DIL's grandfather is diabetic and he is always so happy I bring dessert he can eat.  Him and I pretty much are the only ones eating it as soon as everyone else finds out it's sugar free, lol.  You would think I made it with vegetables.

Anyway, have a great Holliday everyone and I hope you get to spend them with those you love.

Jan birthday here too!  The 1st I'll be 44

I have it easy this year.  This is the first Thanksgiving since my Mom has passed away.  We used to go to her house and there were 50+ people and IT WAS ALL ABOUT THE FOOD.

This year I am going to MIL house and it will just be her and my family of 4 so no worries.  We are having turkey, GBC, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing and cheesecake.  I will have a little of most and not worry about it.  It is supposed to be at 2pm.  So I will have a protein shake and a snack in the am then when I get there we will probably have a glass of wine and then the meal.  I don't plan on going crazy but I am having some GBC, stuffing and cheesecake!

I am attending Thanksgiving at my cousins house this year, though i am to bring the mashed potatoes and cole slaw   i probably will cook a turkey over that weekend for home.

I will weight myself daily and continue to weigh and measure everything (except maybe not Thanksgiving dinner), on second though I will record Thanksgiving dinner for accountability. i might even be pleasantly surprised that i will be able to stay under my calorie goal.

i will look at everything prepared and make wise choices, only one starchy food, turkey and veggies.

Dessert?  maybe a tiny slice of pumpkin pie.

We will be tailgating for the University of Texas football game on Thanksgiving Day. The guys are prepping the meal on the grill. I love turkey and will fill up on that. The tailgate is so much fun. I do plan to have one bite of pumpkin pie. I will not splurge as I have a doctor's appointment the week after Thanksgiving. I really want to be at the halfway point to my goal by then. I am highly motivated to stay on plan to reach this goal. Remember the Alamo!💝

we are going to DD house with several family members and the menu is turkey, home made rolls, green beans, white beans, deviled eggs, sweet potato casseroles, cookies, pecan pie, banana pudding and that is what is on the menu so far.

DH and I eat grain for so I am making the sweet potatoes and white beans, and grain free rolls for us so we won't be tempted by theirs. Sweet potatoes will be less sugar, using maple syrup to sweeten.  I am making the banana  pudding so DH and I can eat it as well.

I just always go into with The best Intentions  and hope I am able to keep them, lol. I am having plastic surgery in January, and even though I am not at goal, what ever weight. I. Am,will likely be where I will stay, since I'll not be actively trying to. Lose after plantics, cause I don't want to cause the plastics to sag.
