I am taking the mini's and am wondering if I should be taking daily recommended doses or double that? I know I take the multivitamin just at daily dose and that seems to be fine and I am on a b12 and folic acid but what about the calcium?

I also take the minis, I take 7 per day (3 in am, 2 late morning, and 2 pm.  Sometimes I take 6 and add a scoop of Upcal D (powdered calcium citrate) to my protein shake in the am.

EDIT- I forgot you are VSG so will need less than I do.  Sorry should not have answered :)

Keep your bones healthy and try to get 3 doses of 500mg or 600mg a day. Also add D3 and mag citrate if you haven't already. They help the calcium absorb in your system. You can take the mag citrate with your calcium and take your D3 with your multi.

I have not added mag citrate or d3... Guess I should do that. I was taking a vit D prescription but the doc stopped it.

What were you D3 labs last time? You might want to switch to over-the-counter dry D3 you can get a t VitaminShoppe or Vitalady. Probably no more than 5,000IUs a day or every other day. You want that D3 lab up and over 70 for it to do you any good bone wise.

BIG NO NO FOR ME:::::: I haven't had ANY labs done since I had my surgery. My surgeon retired and I have yet to find a new one. Six months out and no labs so I'm just kind of winging it.

Ok, I would still add dry D3 but make it 5,000 IUs every other day. If you were low enough to need prescription D at one time you probably need to keep some going in to maintain. Good luck finding a doc to do your labs, you need them!

sorry your surgeon retired but even with the VGS, you need to get labs done.  You really don't want to get behind because it is much harder to catch up than it is to stay where you need to be.

my finace and mother are going to a bariatric surgeon next month. I may go with them and see if they will write me a slip for my labs and get them done. If I like the surgeon I will stick to him.
