WARNING TO SELF AND TO ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN!!! AVOID 'BAD' CARBS AT ALL COSTS!!! THEY ARE ADDICTING!! THEY WILL SLOW DOWN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS DURING THE LOSING STAGE (and you won't even notice)!! THEY WILL MAKE THE SCALE GO UP AFTER THE HONEYMOON PERIOD IS OVER.
Success in Maintenance starts with GOOD CHOICES during the Honeymoon Period!!!!!!
Did you get through Halloween without sampling all of the candy? I bought different kinds of chips to hand out so I wouldn't be tempted but when my 8 grandkids showed up and dumped all of their candy out on the floor temptation won over. I had a mini snickers, MM peanut, and a really tiny PB cup (didn't know they made them that small) . I didn't having any dumping symptoms which surprised me.
Happy Saturday!!! DH and I went out to eat last night and walked around the mall a bit while we waited for a table at the restaurant. Halloween just got over and the stores are already decorated for Christmas. I don't even want to think that far ahead.
One day on my new "acid/spice free diet" and I can notice a difference already! Never would have guessed I was eating things that were making my bladder cramp up. The dietician at the WLS office emailed me some really good websites that have lists of things that I can eat/try/avoid. My Surgeon is no longer there but she was very helpful.

Hi Roz. I hope the acid free/spice free diet works. It's funny how a food can affect us when it didn't used to.

Just out of curiosity, I wonder what your dietitian would say about probiotics to help your system handle acidic foods. I see mixed reviews about yogurt being good for a low acidic diet. They say plan with a low acid fruit is ok. This issue would be finding a low carb sugar substitute that wouldn't be an issue. Which specific sugar alcohols or sugar substitutes must be avoided? I wonder if some of the sweeteners we use today are ok compared to the generic suggestion you got from the surgeon, which might be based on only saccharin. Maybe Truvia or Splenda would be fine.

I tried a probiotic and had to quit it because the gas and cramping got really bad. I was already cramping so I was really miserable.
I tried the Greek yogurt and and it made me nauseated. It could have been the flavoring. Plain and vanilla are listed on the worth trying list. chocolate and flavors like lemon, lime, orange, using aspartame or other artificial sugars are on the foods to avoid list.
Splenda (sucralose) and Truvia (stevia) are on the worth trying and aspartame, nutrasweet, saccharine, sweet-n-low are on the avoid list. I always used sweet-n-low before WLS.
On the other list she sent me stevia is on the caution list. Only Splenda is on the Try it list. I guess I will stick with Spenda since it is on both lists.
