GUYS I'm LOOSING IT

I'm wondering why I even had the surgery. I believe in the surgeries I really do but I'm the exception to the rule. I am loosing slower than I was when I was taking ali and I'm constantly stalling. I'm so emotional over this. I have lost 54 lbs in 24 weeks that's about 2 and 1/2 lbs a week. I was loosing one more pound a week than that when I was taking ali. The only reason I stopped taking ali and stopped loosing weight was because I didn't have the money to keep up on it and I had a med change that caused weight gain. So what gives? AM I the exception to the rule? For the most part I'm doing everything right. Yes I mess up from time to time but not nearly enough to be having these effects. What else can I do to make my body co operate? I'm so upset over this. I really am. I feel like a failure. I still have 46+ pounds to loose. I want to start taking the damned ali again. It worked whether I was eating bad or eating healthy. I'm so frustrated. Are there any tips out there that can help me? I upped my water, upped my protein, and lowered my calories.... NO effects!!!! HELP

I believe your problem is " messing up " from time to time. Not bashing you for messing up,it happens to me too. BUT and it is a big but...when we mess up it is usually with carbs,am I right?
When we eat carbs our bodies are automatically going to have to take on and store water to process these carbs. How much. Water depends n what and how much carbs we ate. It usually takes about 4-7 days for the body to go. Through that process. Formost of us ,about the time the body completes that process and let's go of tha****er,boom,we " mess up" again and the process has to start all over again. That is. We're we get the bouncing back and forth between a few pounds.

In all honesty,it isn't the vsg not working,it is us not working the vsg.

The only time ,I lose consistently, and I am So totally not kidding here,is when I am totally on program and not "messing up". It can. Be a sad fact if we let it,but I focus on getting to goal,so in maintenance those small messing ups will only cause a few pounds back and forth and that is normal for maintenance anyway.

I don't know why the Alli worked. I pretty much know though that I wouldn't want to. Be dependent on it for the rest of my life. You had surgery to get rid of all these "diet fixes" that don't work long term anyway. You are actually proving to yourself that the Alli is a crutch, the results from it are only very short term.

Two plus pound a week WILL GET YOU TO GOAL.  You have no time limit.  With your VSG you have no malabsorbion of course, so it is all your food and exercise.

When you say you lowered your calories.  HOW MUCH?  Too low can be as bad as too high.  Keep going and you will get there.  Seriously, when, if ever have you lost for 24 weeks in a row.  I doubt I ever did prior to WTL surgery.

Chin up, keep your fluids and protein up and you will keep dropping, even if slowly.

Try only weighing on Sunday weigh in, then you should see a loss ever time and that will help mentally IMO

Best to you

Candy

I went from 850 calories to 750 calories. I know when I was loosing weight pre surgery I would stall out and on rare occassions I had to raise my calories and maybe that is true now. I would only do it for a short while, maybe a few days to a week but it seemed to wor****il this very moment I forgot. I'm sticking to my protein. I ordered my other protein with more in it. I hope that helps. With working out I hope things get better. I am actually heading to the gym after I finish my two shakes this morning. I am going to look at wedding dresses again today so I have to get the work out early. Maybe I will burn off extra calories shopping LOL. I know it's off topic but I'm wondering if I should go to davids bridal and search the clearance rack?? Hmmm. I planned on going to second hand stores and checking there. I am kind of rushing the wedding so we don't have the money for me to spend a 1000 on a dress. We are planning on adopting and buying a house so the money will be better spent there. BUT I want a nice dress. I"m getting married at a church and I just need to be dressed appropriately. I'm so bummed I'm not just a size smaller. If I were I would have a lot more options. They don't have a lot for big girls in low prices. I know I'm not as big as I used to be but I'm between an 18 and a 16 in wedding dress sizes. I know in actuality it's more like a 14-12 but that isn't comforting because I still have to see the size EIGHTEEN  on the size tag. UGH. I have a reception dress that I bought for $46 that is a size 12. It looks nice and I love it but it would still be nice to have been in a smaller size. If I had waited until we planned on I would not have had a problem finding a smaller dress but now, well, I am stuck where I am. I wish I could find a dress with a corset cuz then there would be some give and take in the size.

Do you log your food on something every day to see your totals?  It really helps to see what you are actually doing honestly.  You have to post every bite you eat.  You might see something that you have not noticed before.  Those little bites add up, I know because that is one of my problems I have to really watch.

Join us on Menus and Miles each day and maybe someone can spot something.  I know it is a lot of work, but remember that you are worth it.

You will get to goal if you stay on the plan!!

Good luck,

Linda
